QUOTE (ride or die redskins @ Sep 9 2008, 10:40 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Jesus, do you two not know how to read?
Like my quoted post says above, I put out a situation in which everyone else in the country still has two losses, while ECU was undefeated. OBVIOUSLY a hypothetical. And obviously very unlikely.
You all keep bringing up Boise State and Hawa'ii for some reason as well. Lets start with Hawa'ii. They played ONE ranked team all season. That was #17 Boise State, and that was a close game. Not to mention Boise is still a WAC team not coming from a major conference, so there ranking could have been propelled. Now, lets look at boise States perfect season. The only team that might have been top 25 when they played would be Hawa'ii, and im not sure if they were at that point in the.
In two games, ECU has alreeady surpased what Boise or Hawa'ii did in those seasons. They have beaten a team that comes from one of the nations most prestigious conferences (Vtech), and a team that was considered a national contender. If ECU does manage to remain undefeated the entire season, I don't see how you can compare the teams. ECU would obviously have better victories, considering they would get nearly half their wins from a major conference... Something niether of the other teams can even sniff.
And please, a word of warning, please re-read my post once or twice before responding. It saves us all time.

I did read your post, and I still stick by the opinion that since they are not a major conference team, they have very little, if any, chance to play in the title game this year, regardless of the hypothetical situation mentioned. Sorry if you didn't like the Boise or Hawaii example. They were just that...examples. I believe that if even UGA and UF had 2 losses (for the sake of argument) either of them would overtake an undefeatd ECU team. Reason being that the SEC East is deeper than the C-USA East. We can throw the Big 12 South's OU or UT in there as well. The system isn't geared to let smaller conference teams into the NC with one undefeated season under their belt. A BCS bid maybe, but not the big game. It's a flaw that I sometimes don't agree with, but it's there none the less. If it happens and I'm wrong, then I'll the first to admit it. But I just don't see it happening.
