This topic will be posted in every NCAA thread with teams corresponding to that conference. So go vote for your team. It will be interesting to see how large your teams fan base is on TFP. Do not vote unless its your team. That way we can get an accurate depiction of a teams fan base.

Nate Montana, the son of ex-Notre Dame quarterback and NFL Hall of Famer Joe Montana, has rejoined the Fighting Irish, according to a published report Sunday.
Montana transferred to Pasadena City College last fall to try to get some game experience, according to the South Bend (Ind.) Tribune.
The quarterback was approached and worked out for several other four-year college teams after the season but eventually decided to return to Notre Dame.
Montana made the Irish roster in 2008 as a walk-on but found practice reps tough to come by during the season and the next spring, in 2009.
Montana's return will give newly appointed coach Brian Kelly another quarterback for spring practice, the paper reported. Dayne Crist, who is the projected starter, had knee surgery in November, and his spring availability is expected to be limited.
Freshman quarterback Tommy Rees would then be the top active quarterback when Kelly introduces his offense in the spring.
Next on the depth chart would have been a walk-on or receiver John Goodman, but Montana may be able to move up into that spot.
While at Pasadena City College, Montana was among a four-quarterback rotation for the 5-5 Lancers. But he completed just 31-of-88 passes for 324 yards, with two touchdowns and five interceptions.
I'm interested in seeing this kid play. He lit it up in HS.

UC Made BCS Title Game? Kelly Wanted To Coach!Posted by Brooks on Dec. 22, 2009, 8:45pm
Sports By BrooksNotre Dame football coach Brian Kelly makes a comment to Tony Krausz of the FORT WAYNE JOURNAL-GAZETTE, via Da Wiz, that might just give us a hint about his true character.
If the Bearcats were in the championship game, there is one certainty — Notre Dame would have had to wait to name Brian Kelly its football coach if the university wanted him to lead the Irish.
“I know I was going to coach in the national championship game. I made that really clear,” Kelly said during a roundtable interview with a small group of reporters Tuesday. “Every job I’ve taken is because I want to play for a championship. When you have the opportunity to play for a national championship, I’m going to be on that sideline.”Ahhhh, so THAT explains it!
Is that perhaps the worst thing his former players at UC could hear from him? Is he unaware of Fort Wayne’s recent city-wide internet installation?
If that doesn’t tell you that Kelly only cares about himself, after also bolting for ND in the most thoughtless fashion imaginable, nothing well.
Remember that the next 100,000 times he tells us that it’s all about the players.
--------------------------------------------------------------
What a complete dick. Why bring this up? What purpose does it serve other than to further piss off the people and fans of Cincinnati and his former players? Here's to hoping that Notre Dame puts Cincinnati on the schedule soon......

Cincinnati head coach Brian Kelly will replace Charlie Weis as head coach of Notre Dame, according to multiple published reports.
Kelly, who led the Bearcats to a perfect 12-0 regular season and a berth in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, is expected to inform his team of the decision Thursday night before the Bearcats' football banquet, the South Bend Tribune reported.
It was unknown if Kelly would coach the team in the Sugar Bowl against Florida.
Earlier Thursday, in a surprise move, Cincinnati banned media outlets from attending the banquet.
No one from either school has confirmed the reports.

UPDATE: Kelly will not coach the Bearcats in the Sugar Bowl vs. Florida.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - It appears the Charlie Weis era at Notre Dame has reached its end.
Weis has been fired as coach of the Irish, according to multiple published reports Monday.
News of Weis' firing comes on the same day that Notre Dame players scheduled a players meeting that, among other things, will include a vote on whether the players want to play in a bowl game after a 6-6 season. The meeting was set for mid-afternoon.
Athletic director Jack Swarbrick has said he will consider the players' wishes in deciding on a bowl trip.
Weis was not in his office early Monday, and there were no official announcements about whether he will return for a sixth season. Swarbrick has said he will make that decision within the next few days.
Notre Dame lost to Stanford on Saturday night, the team's fourth straight loss after a 6-2 start.
The writing appeared to be on the wall for Weis when an originally scheduled West Coast recruiting trip was cancelled and he returned to Indiana with the team following the Stanford game.
Reports then surfaced that Notre Dame was already lining up interviews with prospective coaching candidates for as early as today — reports that Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbick denied.
"We haven't talked to anybody," Swarbick said before the regular season finale at Stanford. "We haven't authorized anybody to talk to anybody. It's simply not true. Any version of it."
Following the Stanford loss, Weis refused to do any postgame interviews.
According to multiple reports, Weis has already been contacted by several NFL teams interested in hiring him as their offensive coordinator.
Weis compiled a career 35-27 in five full seasons at Notre Dame.

Stoops to have sit-down with Irish?Posted by John Taylor on November 28, 2009 7:07 PM ET
College Football TalkThe "will he, won't he" saga as it pertains to Bob Stoops and the soon-to-be-open job at Notre Dame is about to ratchet into high gear as Oklahoma has finished up their regular season, and Tony Barnhart is the first to pop the clutch on the latest round of rumors.
Citing unnamed coaches and agents, the CBS Sports college football analyst is reporting that the hot rumor making the rounds is to not be surprised if Stoops has "an audience" with Notre Dame officials.
Additionally, Barnhart reports that Stoops may travel to South Bend "as early as tomorrow" to have a sit-down with school officials.
The old saying goes that where there's smoke, there's fire. As far as Stoops-to-ND is concerned, there's a rolling cloud of smoke engulfing Norman and the surrounding areas at this moment.
Is there any fire underneath the haze of innuendo? It's hard to say, but it sure as hell seems like something is smoldering around the Sooners coach.
And it's looking more and more likely that the coach who grew up in the Midwest will, at the very least, take a look at what the once-storied Irish football program has to offer.

Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen was punched in the face by an irate fan outside a South Bend restaurant early Sunday morning and has a swollen eye, a person briefed on the incident said.
That person said Clausen was "sucker-punched" by a fan as he left an establishment after having dinner with his parents.
The fan allegedly said something to Clausen and/or a female acquaintance.
The source said no police report was believed to have been filed and that Clausen is expected to play against Stanford.

Eight-figure buyout won't play into Weis decisionPosted by John Taylor on November 15, 2009 8:28 AM ET
http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...-weis-decision/With the 27-22 loss to Pittsburgh, it's eight consecutive losses to Top-10 teams, the longest streak in the school's storied history.
A 1-8 record against ranked teams since 2006.
The same record as Bob Davies, the same winning percentage as the man he replaced, Tyrone Willingham.
Suffice to say, the seat underneath Charlie Weis at Notre Dame is as hot as it's ever been. And athletic director Jack Swarbrick is doing nothing to turn the thermostat down on his beleaguered head coach.
Speaking to Matt Hayes of the Sporting News, Swarbrick was asked if Weis' $18 million buyout would factor into his fate at the school. The AD's reply?
"No."
Swarbrick also refused to give Weis a vote of confidence in the midst of yet another disappointing season.
"I evaluate programs at the end of the season. I don't evaluate coaches, I evaluate coaches," Swarbrick said.
Semantics aside, the heat is certainly on Weis to a degree unseen during his four-plus seasons in South Bend. The Irish are currently 6-4, with two games remaining, including a road date with the Stanford Cardinal.
The same Cardinal that just waxed Southern Cal 55-21 on the road.
At this point in time, a 7-5 regular season certainly seems to be a best-case scenario for the Irish, and the worst case for Weis' future at the school. A future that, with each passing weekend, seems to be coming to an end very, very quickly.

I think he's going to have a breakout year next year.
Michael Floyd and Armando Allen are 2 really good players to give the ball to. And Kyle Rudolph IMO will be considered one of the best Tight Ends. Not to mention Golden Tate as well.
So,with that said. Jimmy Clausen is going to put up huge numbers next year in his Junior Year. I love his cannon arm and he showed glimpses of greatness in the Hawaii bowl, granted it was against Hawaii, but still.

Look out America.

1. Notre Dame should be better: There were flashes of Notre Dame's potential at times last season and it gave a glimmer of hope that this Fighting Irish team could be a contender again. It returns enough starters and made the right moves on the coaching staff to make that happen. Quarterback Jimmy Clausen -- if he can get out of his own way -- can put up big numbers against a soft schedule and lead the Irish back into the hunt for a major bowl.
2. Navy offense could surprise: Navy's backfield will be entirely new this season and that's a concern considering the backfield was the source of almost all of the Midshipmen's offense in 2008. But there are good players in place and new quarterback Ricky Dobbs proved last season that he's ready to take the reins of this team. He admits that he still needs to work on the option, but he also has the potential to make Navy a more diversified offense in 2009.
3. Army will be a work in progress: Don't expect a quick turnaround at Army. New head coach Rich Ellerson doesn't have the right players on the roster to make the Black Knights the next Navy or even the next Cal Poly. However, Army will be a team that works hard and battles in games. That might not translate into wins, but at least it will be progress from a year ago.
4. Notre Dame's running game will be better: Tony Alford was a great hire as the running backs coach. He brings in a workmanlike effort that was missing from the running backs corps the past two seasons. Armando Allen should have a breakout year and incoming freshman Cierre Wood will also be a vital part of the backfield. If the offense can become more balanced, it will take a lot of pressure off Clausen's shoulders.
5. Navy's defense is one of the best: Navy's defense was underrated last year and ended up being a strength for the team. With seven returners, including Ross Pospisil and Jabaree Tuani, the Midshipmen are poised to have not only the best defense among the independents, but perhaps one of the top defenses in the country. The question is in the secondary, especially with the loss of safety Emmett Merchant. But if it can come along this spring, Navy will be tough to beat.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -For Charlie Weis, it was a hopeful day.
Notre Dame 's offense scored three touchdowns in 13 possessions, the defense scored a touchdown - returning an interception thrown by Jimmy Clausen for a score - and the Fighting Irish finished spring practice with their intrasquad game Saturday.
After only winning only games the past two seasons, coach Weis and the Irish are hoping a good spring leads to a fabulous fall.
"I think we improved in a lot of areas. We have a long way to go to be a really good football team. But at least potentially, potentially, you could see that elements are in place to be a really good football team," he said. "But we have a lot of work to do."
The offense beat the defense 68-33 under an improvised scoring system. Robert Blanton intercepted Clausen's pass and returned it 48 yards for a score. The defense also managed to hold Notre Dame's two best receivers, Michael Floyd and Golden Tate, to one catch each, and neither Clausen nor backup quarterback Dayne Crist managed any big plays.
Clausen was 8-of-17 passing for 70 yards, while Crist, who redshirted last season, was 4-of-10 for 40 with no interceptions.

ARMY TRYING 6-FOOT-10, 286-POUND WIDEOUTPosted by Keith Arnold on March 31, 2009, 1:14 p.m. EDT
http://www.collegefootballtalk.com/2009/03...-pound-wideout/Army football player Ali Villanueva is on his fifth position since arriving at West Point. Recruited as a tight end out of Belgium, he kept growing, moving to defensive end, then was moved from tackle to right guard by the new staff after coach Stan Brock left.
But the 6-foot-10 inch Villanueva is one of the best athletes on first-year Army coach Rich Ellerson’s squad, and was the tallest player in college football last season, putting into question whether he’d be at his best as an interior lineman.
So Ellerson is going to make the almost 7-foot, 300-pounder into wide receiver 2.0.
“It wasn’t really my choice,” Villanueva said. It was coach Ellerson’s. I didn’t really like it because I’m 300 pounds. Playing with little corners that weigh 170 pounds, it’s going to be a challenge. He knows more about football than anyone I’ve met in my entire life. I’ll just follow his lead.”
Villanueva runs a 4.8 forty, which is plenty fast enough for a guy who gives new meaning to possession receiver. Now its up to offensive coordinator Ian Shields and wide receivers coach Andy Guyader to reteach Villanueva the game of football.
“Why not?” Shields said. “It’s a little bit of a journey and discovery. But what if he can? We can get a lot of guys in our system to go out and play tackle. But how cool would it be if there was a 6-10 wide receiver out there, who can be a green-zone target?”
Either way, it’s got people talking about Army football.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I predict Army leads the nation in Red Zone scoring and 3rd down % next year!

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -Coach Charlie Weis will take over offensive coordinator duties for Notre Dame next season, the biggest in a series of changes in coaching responsibilities announced Friday.
Defensive coordinator Corwin Brown will share the title of defensive coordinator with Jon Tenuta while adding the title of associate head coach. Tenuta, the linebackers coach, will call plays on defense.
New offensive line coach Frank Verducci, a Cleveland Browns assistant the past two seasons, has added the title of running game coordinator, while receivers coach Rob Ianello will be assistant coach for offense.
Weis said many of the changes in roles involved his decision to call plays on offense as he did for his first three seasons before handing the duties last season over to Mike Haywood, now the head coach at Miami of Ohio. Brown will take over some of the other duties Weis previously handled.
"Because there's going to be times where I need input from him, especially during the season, on some matters as it relates to the defense overall and special teams, because I'm going to be spending the majority of my time during the season with the offense," Weis said.
Weis also is considering going up to the press box during games after the success the Irish had in the 49-21 win over Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl, when was upstairs because he was on crutches because of two bad knees.

Citing a Bucs team source, the NY Daily News is "hearing" that Jon Gruden could be headed to Notre Dame to replace Charlie Weis.
Reporter Rich Cimini admits it seems "a little far fetched," but says there's a theory that Notre Dame will buy out Weis' contract after his recruiting class signs in 1-2 weeks. Weis was nearly fired this past season. Gruden went to high school in South Bend and has long had an affinity for the university he nearly attended. Still, he'd be a risky hire for the Irish. Gruden is passionate about the NFL and hasn't worked the college game in nearly 20 years.

Athletic director Jack Swarbrick will publicly announce, likely in the next 24 hours, that Charlie Weis will be back for his fifth season at Notre Dame, sources told Scout.com on Tuesday.
The South Bend NBC affiliate, WNDU, also reported that Weis will stay on, citing a source close to the football program. Weis was told to continue recruiting, according to the WNDU report.
There has been some uncertainty about Weis' future since the Irish's 38-3 loss to USC on Saturday, but it appears Swarbrick will be sticking behind Weis.
In four seasons at his alma mater, Weis has a 28-21 record. In his first two seasons, Notre Dame went 19-6 and played in two BCS bowls. Since then, the program has suffered a 3-9 season, and the team currently sits at 6-6, awaiting its bowl fate

Sources: Weis' buyout smaller than believedBy Teddy Greenstein | Tribune staff reporter
11:49 PM CST, November 25, 2008
During an interview Tuesday on WMVP-AM 1000, ESPN's Lee Corso said Notre Dame is stuck with coach Charlie Weis because of his buyout.
"The entire Catholic Church doesn't have enough money to pay him off at $2.5 million for another seven years or whatever it is," Corso said. "So forget about it. The guy is going to be the football coach and they're just going to have to live with what they've got."
But as a wise man once said: Not so fast, my friend.
The common perception of Weis' buyout is not accurate. Multiple sources have told the Tribune the buyout, far smaller than believed, will not affect whether Notre Dame decides to fire Weis after Saturday's game at USC. One prominent alumnus called the amount "loose change."
One source familiar with the contracts of Division I football coaches said the typical buyout would be Weis' base salary times the number of years remaining on his deal.
Weis' base salary from July 2006-June 2007 was $598,000, according to the Ft. Wayne (Ind.) Journal Gazette. The newspaper cited figures from Notre Dame's federal 990 tax form, which requires the school to list its five highest-paid employees.
Weis' contract likely calls for annual increases to his base salary. If that average rises to $650,000, the seven-year buyout would be about $4.5 million.
It has been reported Weis' annual compensation package is worth between $3 million-$4 million, which includes money from speaking appearances, media contracts and apparel deals. Some industry sources dispute that figure, saying Weis' total package is closer to $2 million-$2.5 million.
Whatever the case, a consensus is building among sources with ties to Notre Dame that Weis is in danger of being fired after four seasons.
"He has built zero relationships at the school," one source said. "It has been all about him and his ego."

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Notre Dame's 4-1 start doesn't measure up to the 27 other seasons in which the Irish had one loss in the first five games.
The difference: This time they're unranked.
Every other season in which the Fighting Irish were either 4-1 or 3-1-1, they were ranked. The Irish were rated as high as No. 4 in 1942 and 1965, as low as No. 18 in 1998, and had an average ranking of No. 10 during those seasons.
On Sunday, Regis Philbin's alma mater got six votes in The Associated Press poll, 91 votes fewer than No. 25 Ball State, the fellow Indiana school best known for being David Letterman's alma mater.
Irish coach Charlie Weis isn't worried, though. He believes his team, which started last year 0-5, is on the cusp of being ranked.
"You're one of the team that's in the mix in that conversation piece," he said.
It's not difficult to understand why the Irish didn't crack the Top 25. None of the previous ranked Notre Dame teams averaged as few as the 103 yards a game rushing, as this year's squad is. En route to a 28-21 win Saturday over Stanford, the Irish gave the Cardinal a last chance to tie the score, when they failed on third-and-1 and fourth-and-1 in the final minute.
Weis acknowledged Sunday the Irish need to run the ball better.
"If you become a one-dimensional team, eventually you're going to get hurt. Especially when you're ineffective on third-and-1," he said. "You have to be able to run the football and you definitely need to be more productive on third-and-1 than we've been."
The Irish are ranked 84th nationally in total defense. The only ranked Irish team that rated lower five games into the season was the 2005 squad that ranked 95th. But that team averaged 504 yards a game in total offense through five games, 151 yards a game more than this year's squad.
