Kiffin offers 13-year-old QB scholarship

CFT

If David Sills is worried about any potential NCAA sanctions heading USC's way, he isn't showing it. That's probably because the middle-schooler won't sign his letter of intent until 2015.

USC head coach Lane Kiffin offered the 7th grade quarterback from Delaware a scholarship today and Sills accepted.

"I'm very excited, but I was very, very nervous," Sills told the News Journal tonight. "It was very cool but my heart was beating so fast and I was scared. But after it was over, I was so excited and pumped."

Sills has been training with California quarterback coach Steve Clarkson since he was a 10-year-old, and the 13-year-old quarterback is now a twiggish 5-foot-11 and 135 pounds. Don't worry, Trojan fans, doctors tell Sills that once he goes through -- well, you know -- puberty, he could grow to 6-foot-5.

I'm trying to find positive things to say about this, but let's get serious. What are the odds this kid ends up at USC? One in ten? One in fifty? What are the odds Lane Kiffin is coaching the Trojans in 2015? One in a hundred?

Kiffin, who made headlines offering Eric Berry's 13-year-old brother a scholarship last year and accepting his commitment to the Vols, followed the same playbook with a kid, this time offering a kid that's been making headlines for getting shipped across the country and spending thousands of dollars on sports to follow his father's dreams since he was ten.

(Does anyone else feel like they need to take a shower?)

The NCAA prohibits schools from formally offering scholarships until a recruit registers with the NCAA Clearinghouse, but why would that stop Kiffin from getting his hands on a preteen?

While I'm sure USC will backpedal their way out of this one, and this is all a part of Kiffin's grand-plan to draw publicity to a Trojan program that really needs more eyeballs on it (or to gather a few more secondary violations), but Kiffin really does his best to be a part of what's wrong with college football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We can't have a college playoff system....but it's OK to recruit 13-year old kids? Stay classy, NCAA. I'm really starting to believe what Al Davis said about him. Tennessee fans....you burned Knoxville to the ground over losing this guy?

... Yeah I think this guy has been infected by the Al Davis "lost his marbles" syndrome.

Can't wait to see him coaching the broncos next year! *whimpers*

Here he goes again with all the crazy stunts to get his name and the university's in the media. I have a feeling this will be the lesser of the dumb things he's got in mind for the Trojans.

I think this is fairly sick (not a good connotation). But apparently the kid has a great skill set and a great QB coach...

A living, breathing mythical beast, Finley is a freakishly gifted monster with unmatched size and athleticism. When lined up in the slot or on the wing, he simply can’t be caged. To suggest he could emerge as the No. 1 ranked TE by season’s end isn’t outlandish propaganda.

The writer of that article is a ****ing moron. Trying to justify it? He obviously has no kids of his own. There's always one token jackass who takes the contrarian point of view on everything, no matter what it is. 99% of people think this is pathetic or just wrong, I'll be the guy who writes the one article who says it's OK. roleyes.gif

I doubt this dumbass even believes what he wrote, he just did it to "that guy."

I also hate Lane Kiffin because he stole that OL from Cretin (St. Paul MN) from Minnesota! Asshole!

Seantrel's father says he's going to wait to see what the NCAA does to USC before actually signing his letter of intent.

Sarge  : (06 September 2010 - 02:18 AM) *cue blotsmower "get new jokes" response*
SteVo  : (06 September 2010 - 02:18 AM) You live upstate, Bleu?
Favre4Ever  : (06 September 2010 - 02:18 AM) I still can;t believe they hired Chan Gailey
Sarge  : (06 September 2010 - 02:19 AM) I can't believe they didn't draft Claussen in the 2nd round. He fell right into their laps.
Sarge  : (06 September 2010 - 02:19 AM) But um.... go trent Edwards and Patrick Fitzryan? :D
SteVo  : (06 September 2010 - 02:19 AM) I still say drafting Spiller was fail
SteVo  : (06 September 2010 - 02:20 AM) I don't care how good he is. The Bills needed everything, and they took the easiest position to find talent at 9 overall.
Favre4Ever  : (06 September 2010 - 02:20 AM) yeah, pretty fail
Favre4Ever  : (06 September 2010 - 02:21 AM) Is Maybin going to show up this year?
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:21 AM) really blue?
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:21 AM) ive been out of state for a hwile so i havent seen them,
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:21 AM) actually favre, im moderatley optimistic about maybin
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:22 AM) since as a linebacker in the 3-4 i think he has a shot
SteVo  : (06 September 2010 - 02:22 AM) Maybin should rape
SteVo  : (06 September 2010 - 02:22 AM) He might not be great this season, but the 3-4 is a much better fit for him
Favre4Ever  : (06 September 2010 - 02:22 AM) Is he getting the nod to start? Or is he rotating in?
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:22 AM) i dont know actually
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:23 AM) i dont think hes starting come to think of it
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:23 AM) but i havent paid nearly as close attention to the bills as usual
Favre4Ever  : (06 September 2010 - 02:23 AM) I don't blame ya, I wouldn't either if I was a bills fan
Favre4Ever  : (06 September 2010 - 02:23 AM) :p
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:23 AM) since i can only go to 1 game, and theyre gonna be the worst team in football probably
BLUE  : (06 September 2010 - 02:25 AM) Yeah, they have, blots. Can't say I really blame them though.
Sarge  : (06 September 2010 - 02:26 AM) just peeked at the Bills depth chart. He's 2nd string ROLB.
BLUE  : (06 September 2010 - 02:26 AM) It is kinda weird, though, because they never hyped them up like this in recent years.
Sarge  : (06 September 2010 - 02:26 AM) and on another note.... lolJohnMcCargo
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:26 AM) im not surprised
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:27 AM) its a hard sell
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:27 AM) like, would taking mccoy in the 3rd have been too much?
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:27 AM) id be way more excited for the season if they did just that
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:27 AM) i dont think thats too much to ask
Favre4Ever  : (06 September 2010 - 02:27 AM) McCoy will be a baller here in a few years
SteVo  : (06 September 2010 - 02:27 AM) Something. Anything.
Favre4Ever  : (06 September 2010 - 02:27 AM) With MIke Holmgren at the helm.... As long as they let him sit and just absorb it all up... He should be a good QB in this league
Favre4Ever  : (06 September 2010 - 02:28 AM) How about that Brian Brohm!!!!
Sarge  : (06 September 2010 - 02:28 AM) How in the name of blue hells did they pass on Clausen in the 2nd round?
Favre4Ever  : (06 September 2010 - 02:28 AM) I hear he sucks..... still. lmao
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:29 AM) terrell troup was too good sarge
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:29 AM) you should learn your football
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:29 AM) a 1x second team all conference usa stud like that will be a huge asset
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:29 AM) oh, im sorry
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:29 AM) 2x
Sarge  : (06 September 2010 - 02:30 AM)
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:31 AM) :sarcasm:
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:31 AM) sorry, forgot that
Sarge  : (06 September 2010 - 02:32 AM) Obviously.
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:32 AM) didnt want you to think i was completley retarded
blotsfan  : (06 September 2010 - 02:32 AM) only a little
Sarge  : (06 September 2010 - 02:34 AM) I'm not a monster.
Sarge  : (06 September 2010 - 02:34 AM) I'm just ahead of the curve.
