Earlier today, I wrote a post about DIRECTV not charging its SUNDAY TICKET subscribers for the 2011 season until its confirmed the NFL season will begin. "Due to the NFL's uncertain labor situation, DIRECTV is offering all subscribers a no-risk policy. There will be absolutely no charge for your NFL SUNDAY TICKET subscription until it is confirmed that the 2011 NFL season will begin," DIRECTV wrote in an email to SUNDAY TICKET subscribers (like me) on Thursday. This afternoon, Will Brinson of CBSSports.com reports that DIRECTV will begin charging subscribers in July, the normal month they begin billing for the SUNDAY TICKET package. "We are going to start to charge for the NFL Sunday Ticket by...probably July 3, but there is no specific date," DIRECTV customer service told CBSSports.com. "But it will be in July." So much for that magnanimous gesture. Perhaps the owners and players will let DIRECTV off the hook by reaching a new collective bargaining agreement before July, thus ensuring a full 2011 regular season that SUNDAY TICKET subscribers will happily pay for.
