EUGENE, Ore. – University of Oregon cornerback Cliff Harris has been suspended indefinitely from the Ducks’ football program following last weekend’s incident that included citations for driving at excessive speeds and driving with a suspended license, head football coach Chip Kelly announced Wednesday. Kelly added that the suspension includes Harris sitting out a minimum of Oregon’s 2011 season opener vs. LSU.

Kelly emphasized that the Fresno, Calif., native’s status following the Sept. 3 game in Arlington, Texas’ Cow-boys Stadium would be dependent on his adhering to standards set forth by the University’s football program. He added that the sanctions imposed upon Harris were based upon the information currently available surrounding more than just a single event, and were independent of any legal rulings or potential violation of NCAA rules that have yet to be determined.

“Cliff’s future clearly is in Cliff’s hands,” Kelly said. “Earning an opportunity to represent the University of Oregon and this football program certainly rests far beyond a player’s ability on the field of play. Our behavior out of the spotlight often is more important and will be held to a higher standard. Until Cliff is able to conform to the same standards all of us must comply with, his status will remain unchanged.”

The 2010 consensus All-America defensive back and punt returner led the nation with 23 passes broken up and was second in the country in punt returns with an 18.8-yard average, in addition to pacing the Pac-10 Conference with six interceptions.

Depending on what happens this could hurt, Harris is one of the most dynamic returners in college football and was coming along nicely as a CB. I hope this gets sorted out quickly as we will need him.

You don't need Cliff Harris to steamroll through that mediocre schedule of yours, and once again lay another egg in a big bowl game.

1. What Mallett said. Your conference is weak.
2. Mind explaining to me exactly why you're a UO fan?

I see. You have always cheered for them, though, right? It didn't just start last year.

Everyone who things the PAC 12 is a "weak" or "mediocre" conference is either ignorant or just uneducated when it comes to college football. I will agree that right now, it may be a top heavy conference with Oregon, USC, and Stanford being the dominant teams as of late. I'll even give it to you that overall, looking at the conference as a whole, the SEC is much more balanced in terms of power in college football. Not even going to comment on the Big XII right now, as I'm pretty sure they are pretty near their end, and the Big 10 being superior to the PAC is arguable at best.

Anyways, whatever the case, the PAC is on the rise. They are getting much more talent then they have ever before. Schools like Oregon are changing how other teams play the game. When people talk about the conference being weak and mediocre they don't realize that one of the things that the PAC has done that other conferences like the SEC ACC Big 12 or whoever don't do is have a round robin schedule. This means that they had to play EVERY member from their conference. This is so much more significant than people realize and honestly I don't even want to get into it with people that bypass facts and simply claim their conferences are better because they are college football gurus. I don't claim to be, but if your going to make claims like these back it up. I'd prefer you use evidence relevant to RECENT happenings in college football because lately anyone I ask this brings up the past which has nothing to do with the strength of a conference today.

As for me, I'm simply going to let my ducks do the talking when they straight up own LSU tomorrow. As for you Notre Dame/Illinois fan, I have no words other than good luck. You need it more than most

JetsFan4Life  : (21 May 2013 - 02:21 PM) He's a highlight reel that's it
CampinWithGo...  : (21 May 2013 - 02:22 PM) I wouldn't say hes close to the being a great PF but Griffin is already a superstar.
CampinWithGo...  : (21 May 2013 - 02:22 PM) Players who aren't super stars don't get commercials built off them.
CampinWithGo...  : (21 May 2013 - 02:22 PM) Is it deserved? No. And he's not a great PF and he's pretty overrated. But he is a Super Star.
CampinWithGo...  : (21 May 2013 - 02:23 PM) superstar is fame, not skill.

blotsfan  : (21 May 2013 - 02:28 PM) which is why i think its ridiculous to think that he was able to get 100% out of Griffin
