Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple Inc., who introduced simple, well-designed computers for people who were more interested in what technology could do rather than how it was done, died Wednesday at age 56.

In a brief statement, Apple announced the death but did not say where he died. Mr. Jobs suffered from a rare form of pancreatic cancer and had a liver transplant in 2009, and he stepped down as Apple’s chief executive in August.

An original thinker who helped create the Macintosh, one of the most influential computers in the world, Mr. Jobs also reinvented the portable music player with the iPod, launched the first successful legal method of selling music online with the creation of iTunes, and reordered the cellphone market with the iPhone. The introduction of the iPad also jump-started the electronic-tablet market, and it now dominates the field.

He also started a chain of retail stores and pushed consumers away from their dependence on floppy disks and CDs.

To show how much he affects me every day, I am posting this from my iPhone. I have always bought PC's over Macs because they are cheaper, but I have still bought many of his other products and realize that he has revolutionized the technology industry. May Steve Jobs rest in peace.

“Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure — these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”
Steve Jobs, RIP

He made Apple the company it is today. Almost everyone has been affected by him in some way: iPods, iPhones, Apple computing, iPads...

RIP Steve Jobs...

Although I'm not huge on Apple products there is no denying the affect that Steve Jobs had on the technology industry and from what I've heard he seemed to be a good guy. RIP.

On a side note, I'm not sure why so many people are somehow shocked that he died. I think it was obvious when he stepped down a month ago he looked weak and his time was running out otherwise he never would've stepped down.

I've never bought a single Apple product lol, but he definitely changed how we listen to music after the creation of the iPod. Apple has released other quality products and it's certainly due to his hard work with the company. RIP

^I don't get that reference...lol.

RIP Steve Jobs. Didn't know much about you other than your kick-ass ideas and innovation for Apple, but I read a lot about this guy and his personal life and he really was a great man.

That 'beachball' is used in Mac's OS like the hour glass is used in Windows.

Steve Jobs passed away from pancreatic cancer... Looks like he lost his battle against the PC after all.

Tridentdawgp...  : (19 May 2013 - 11:16 PM) They have to find a position for him
BLUE  : (19 May 2013 - 11:16 PM) He's up right now because of an injury to Kinsler.
Bay  : (19 May 2013 - 11:16 PM) So the injured to hell team is his fault?
BradyFan81  : (19 May 2013 - 11:17 PM) Josh beckett injured and sucking? didn't see that one coming
Mathias  : (19 May 2013 - 11:18 PM) Kinsler will probably only need the 15 days to recover but you never know.
SteVo+  : (19 May 2013 - 11:18 PM) I know he's up because of Kinsler, I'm just wondering if he stays here once Kinsler comes back. Or does it depend on how he plays?
Tridentdawgp...  : (19 May 2013 - 11:18 PM) Should've seen him after their BP imploded today
Tridentdawgp...  : (19 May 2013 - 11:18 PM) He looked like a defeated man
Tridentdawgp...  : (19 May 2013 - 11:18 PM) His eyes were dead
BLUE  : (19 May 2013 - 11:19 PM) I imagine if he plays well it will make things interesting.
BLUE  : (19 May 2013 - 11:19 PM) Regardless, I didn't drop a world beater to pick him up, so w/e.
BLUE  : (19 May 2013 - 11:19 PM) Worth a shot. :yep:
Tridentdawgp...  : (19 May 2013 - 11:20 PM) If he plays well enough they can trade Kinsler to the Braves
Mathias  : (19 May 2013 - 11:21 PM) Nah, he'll go down again even if he plays well. No room. :(
Tridentdawgp...  : (19 May 2013 - 11:23 PM) I remember seeing on MLBTR a few weeks ago a poll suggesting the Rangers and Card should swap Profar and Taveras
BLUE  : (19 May 2013 - 11:23 PM) :shifty:
Tridentdawgp...  : (19 May 2013 - 11:23 PM) Profar on the Cards would be so unfair
Tridentdawgp...  : (19 May 2013 - 11:23 PM) The NL might as well throw in the towel at that point
BenJarvus Gr...  : (19 May 2013 - 11:24 PM) Profar will bust

BradyFan81  : (19 May 2013 - 11:26 PM) Is Profar known more as a defensive whiz or a hitting type player?
Mathias  : (19 May 2013 - 11:26 PM) Dominated 2 Future Games, Homered in his first ever Big League AB. lol
Mathias  : (19 May 2013 - 11:26 PM) Both.

Tridentdawgp...  : (19 May 2013 - 11:27 PM) A guy who is all D would never be the consensus #1 prospect in the sport
BLUE  : (19 May 2013 - 11:28 PM) Wonder if he got the ball back, lol.
BradyFan81  : (19 May 2013 - 11:29 PM) didn't know he was the #1 prospect
BLUE  : (19 May 2013 - 11:32 PM) :yep:
Tridentdawgp...  : (19 May 2013 - 11:34 PM) But still, our Curacao SS > Ranger's Curacao SS

BradyFan81  : (19 May 2013 - 11:37 PM) thought they finally had a winner this year, end up being worse than last year
Tridentdawgp...  : (19 May 2013 - 11:51 PM) lmao, almost every book in that "Best pieces of literature" thread are books I was supposed to read in school but never actually read
JetsFan4Life  : (19 May 2013 - 11:52 PM) I don't Brady.
JetsFan4Life  : (19 May 2013 - 11:53 PM) A lot of them were apparently very pompous about it.

BLUE  : (20 May 2013 - 12:00 AM) Both are pretty humble.
JetsFan4Life  : (20 May 2013 - 12:08 AM) Tom Hamilton (radio guy) said when they went there for the opening series everyone in Toronto was smug. Thought they were already in championship contention.
BenJarvus Gr...  : (20 May 2013 - 12:14 AM) Jays fans made for some absolute gem .gifs during Opening Week this year lol
