Discuss this series here.

Interesting series. Washington has come on strong since their loss to Buffalo a couple weeks ago. Boston kind of coasted their way to a Northeast Division title but definitely slumped at times.

that really is the wild card, if Holtby plays like he did last night I could definitely see the Caps taking this, Caps lead the season series 3-1 but all three of our wins were basically one point games (we had an empty netter in one game to stretch it to two) and one of those was in a shootout, so it should be a good series

What is the status of Neuvirth and Vokoun? Is it possible either would play?

we just sent Sabourin back down to Hershey, so I presume that means Neuvy may be healthy enough to play, Vokoun's had a nagging problem so I'd be surprised to see him back

and we just called Sabourin back up, we may be seeing Holtby after all, although Neuvy was on the ice before practice this morning, so Sabourin may have just been called up to give Neuvy a few practice days off for recovery

Boston is a well-organized team. Caps are hot, but determination and team structure will see the Bruins through.

7 game series, though.

Holtby to start; Neuvirth to make trip to Boston
By Gene Wang

Ailing goalie Michal Neuvirth did not participate in practice this morning at Kettler, nor did he make an appearance beforehand to stretch by himself or test his injury.

Neuvirth will be joining the team on its trip to Boston, though, according to a Capitals spokesman. Neuvirth did skate on Tuesday with his teammates for the first time since suffering an apparent left leg injury on April 5.

Goalie Tomas Vokoun did some light stretching and moved laterally between the pipes for roughly 20 minutes by himself as the maintenance crew worked on the ice for practice.

Vokoun, who is nursing a groin muscle strain, was on the ice for the second straight day, but he will not accompany the team to Boston, a Capitals spokesman said.

Well, Holtby is starting at least game one, but it looks like we might see Neuvy as early as game two depending on his recover and Holtby's game one performance

I don't like leaning on Holtby this much, but he's stepped up to the task at least through two periods

Holtby played a good game in regulation, but I'm sorry, that OT goal was a softee.

yeah, he probably should have gotten that, but for his first NHL playoff game he played pretty damn well, and I don't care what the OT goal looks like, a 1-0 overtime game is not on the goalie

Random stat but the last goaltender 22 or younger to lose a 1-0 overtime playoff game was Martin Brodeur in 1994.

But yeah definitely not on Holtby. Sure he let in a bit of a soft one but he had been worked hard all night.

well, maybe that bodes well for him, and we still have a long series ahead of us, just out of curiosity, where did you get that sort of trivia? I realize as a Devils fan you know a lot about Brodeur, so that may be it
