The team said in a statement, Knighton had surgery at Baptist Medical Center and is recovering. The seriousness of the injury was not revealed.
"We are in the process of gathering information about what happened and are not able to further comment at this time," the statement read. "Our concern and our focus is on Terrance and his health and recovery."
Knighton reported for the Jaguars offseason strength program on Wednesday. Last week was the program's first week. The fourth-year defensive tackle is entering the final year of his contract.
Several of Knighton's teammates sent prayers for Knighton on their Twitter accounts including kicker Josh Scobee, safety Courtney Greene, defensive end Austen Lane and tight end Zach Potter.

Knighton’s eye injury caused by fight, vodka bottle
Quote
Now, there are more details. And some of them conflict.
Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union reports that Knighton was “hit in the face with a bottle of Ciroc vodka during an altercation that Knighton did not initiate.” Ganguli also reports that the situation gave rise to no police report.
According to WOKV.com, a police report exists. Per that report, the police report says that Knighton and a man known only as “Spoon” had been kicked out of the club for fighting — and that they both were repeatedly made threats to shoot people.
The police report mentions Knighton’s eye injury, but it doesn’t mention the manner in which the injury was inflicted.
Knighton had surgery on the eye Sunday. He was due to learn more about the prognosis on Monday.

According to beat writer Tania Ganguli, there is "still a lot of uncertainty about Knighton's health," but he is expected to make a full recovery. However, it's now possible he won't be ready for the beginning of camp. That would be bad news for a former third-round pick who has struggled with his weight and was already facing a make-or-break 2012. Apr 16 - 12:20 PM

The Jaguars have a nutrition plan for the oft-overweight Knighton, but it's an obvious concern entering his contract year. The recovery could sideline Knighton for the beginning of training camp. His absence during upcoming minicamps and OTAs will warrant 2010 third-round pick D'Anthony Smith more of a look.

Speaking at a Tuesday news conference, Knighton also insisted that he was not the instigator in the April nightclub incident that led to his eye injury. He also denied the police report's assertion that he "repeatedly made threats to shoot people." Unable to run and lift weights while he rehabs, Knighton will miss the Jaguars' mandatory June minicamp. May 15 - 10:43 AM
