so u mean his Huge Productive games when Miles Austin was out was cuz he was getting covered by the other teams 3rd corner? get outta here with that

Laurent Robinson's stat lines for every game Miles Austin did not play in:

9/26 vs Redskins: 3 rec, 49 yards, 0 TDs.
10/2 vs Detroit: 7 rec, 116 yards, 0 TDs.
11/13 vs Buffalo: 3 rec, 73 yards, 2 TDs.
11/20 vs Redskins: 4 rec, 34 yards, 1 TD.
11/24 vs Miami: 7 rec, 79 yards, 2 TDs.
12/4 vs Arizona: 4 rec, 72 yards, 0 TDs.

He broke 100 yards 1 time when Miles was out. So, how exactly is that huge and productive? He's got some decent games in there, and he's also got a couple of stinkers. In addition, he's playing against the #2 corner of these teams. Who among those teams has a good #2 corner? Heck, who has a good #1 corner?

None of these teams scream great pass defense, or even good pass defense.

And you are forgetting- he had Tony Romo throwing to him. Probably the most underrated QB in the NFL. With Blaine Gabbert throwing to him, asking him to be the #1 WR for your team is most definitely a gamble.

Per Rotoworld.com:

Jaguars GM Gene Smith stated clearly Monday that the team has no intention of meeting Maurice Jones-Drew's contract demands.
Smith says the Jags haven't even entertained it with MJD's agent. "He has expressed that he would like to renegotiate and we have expressed, again, that we feel he has a contract with two years left," Smith said. "And we expect him to fulfill those obligations." Jones-Drew is owed a $4.45 million salary in 2012. The Jaguars can fine him if he skips this week's mandatory minicamp. Jun 11 - 1:23 PM

The Jaguars can fine Maurice Jones-Drew up to $60,000 if he misses the Jaguars' upcoming mandatory minicamp.
"That's a decision that certainly is the head coach's decision, and I would support that," GM Gene Smith said. NFL players may be fined $10,000 for skipping day one of minicamp, an additional $20,000 for day two, and $30,000 more if they skip all three days, bringing the total to $60,000. We'd expect MJD to report on Tuesday, although it would be a sign he's serious about a holdout if he didn't. Jun 11 - 2:01 PM

It is better to play nice now instead of contract time when he has amassed great numbers and demands something big because I just dont see Deji Karim being that guy.

Maurice Jones Drew is the fucking iron man. He had an injury going on all last offseason, and had the best season of his career. He's been the least injured runningback over the past 4 years out of all the guys who have been full time every down back starters. I'm sure the Jaguars will pay him by the start of the season, they are just taking their time and playing hard ball since thats what the Forte and Ray Rice situation is showing they should do.

Karim is with the Colts now. Were MJD not able to play, the burden would fall on Rashad Jennings and DuJuan Harris.

The Florida Times-Union reports Maurice Jones-Drew will not attend this week's mandatory minicamp, and that it's possible he'll hold out into the regular season.

Jones-Drew can be fined up to $60,000 for skipping minicamp, but is ready to dig in as he seeks a new deal. MJD believes he's outplayed the five-year, $30.95 million pact he signed in 2009. GM Gene Smith said Monday the Jags have no intention of renegotiating. There's still plenty of time for MJD to be convinced to report to training camp, but if things continue down the path they're headed, a lengthy holdout is a distinct possibility. The fact that he's willing to sacrifice money says a lot. It's a serious problem for a team coming off a 5-11 season.

I wonder if the Jags are going to switch colors when they relocate to LA.

I am a Jags season ticket holder and have been since the inception of the team. I can speak from experience that it has indeed been a trying time to sit and watch your team achieve mediocrity year after year. I believe there are several causes for Jag Fans to be excited about the coming years. Although I support our team and never criticized too harshly, Jack Del Rio was not the best thing to ever happen to this franchise. The yearly coaching changes and instability caused by said changes lended itself to inconsistencies every year. I wish him well but am excited about the new staff. It is truly an upgraded group. As stated, watching games every year, one can get a feel for the players, and sadly, although there is much gas left in the tank, as with any player, the years are catching up with MJD. I watched him get caught from behind too many times last year after watching him put distance between him and the nearest defender during his early years, for this to be anything but cold hard reality. I love watching him. He is a beast. ( ask Shawn Merrimen). It's a business and I don't blame either side for the stance they are taking right now. Finally, the above mentioned coaching changes and an offseason to better acclimate will hopefully bring out what MANY NFL analysts saw in Blaine Gabbert, not just the Jags scouting department. Most NFL fans saw the ugly side of things last year, and admittedly, there were plenty of them. Call me an optimist, but Having witnessed his rookie years woes, I also saw some passes last year that neither Garrard, Leftwich, or even Brunell had ever thrown in a Jaguar uniform. Heres to the future! I have a feeling America. is going to have to find a new punching bag soon!! GO JAGS!

People "with knowledge of his thinking" tell the Florida Times Union that Maurice Jones-Drew "could" sit out regular season games as he attempts to get a pay raise from the Jaguars.
The Times Union reported similar things before, and Jones-Drew's recent statements to NFL Network confirmed he's serious about skipping training camp time, at least. Jones-Drew also said he wants to keep the contract squabble out of the media as much as possible. Rashad Jennings will continue to pick up first-team reps, and would be a borderline RB2 if he made regular season starts. Jun 22 - 3:30 PM

Gabbert will have no chance, what so ever, to succeed if they don't have MJD there.

0% chance. Bet on it.

ESPN's John Clayton reported on SportsCenter Monday that Maurice Jones-Drew "will" report to the Jaguars before Week 1, and predicted MJD will even be in training camp on time.
"I think he now realizes the team is going to do nothing as far as giving him anything on a contract," said Clayton. "He has two years left on the contract. And even though he's outperformed that contract, the organization feels as though they've come back, they've given him a deal even before he was a starter, and taken good care of him. ... There's no chance of him getting a new deal. I think he'll be there for the start of training camp." Jul 2 - 3:24 PM

They are taking a huge gamble on Robinson.

He was a #3 WR with a very good QB throwing him the ball. If they want him to be their #1, he's going to have to line up across from the other team's best CB. We have no idea if he can do that, since before he was lining up across from their #3 CB.

That actually isn't true for a good portion of last season because Austin spent most of it on the shelf or was very limited. Laurent actually played a lot against 2s and 1s, especially with teams who don't have their best guy follow a certain player.

I expect Laurent to produce maybe 700-800 yards and 6-8 TDs if he stays healthy.

Fred Taylor believes Maurice Jones-Drew will not report to training camp on time.
Taylor has significant credibility here as he's been working out with Jones-Drew in South Florida. MJD has two years left on his contract totaling $9.4 million in base salary, but is coming off a rushing title. At 27, he knows the time to cash in is now -- especially after seeing LeSean McCoy, Ray Rice and Matt Forte all get paid. Jones-Drew already skipped the mandatory minicamp and appears dug in. Intriguing prospect Rashad Jennings is the handcuff. Jul 19 - 11:37 AM

CBSSports.com's Pete Prisco has been told by Jaguars sources there is "no consideration at all" on a new contract for Maurice Jones-Drew.
This hardly earth-shattering news, as GM Gene Smith clearly stated in June that he expects Jones-Drew to fulfill the last two seasons of the five-year, $31 million contract signed back in 2009. The headstrong Jones-Drew appears to have his heels dug in for a training camp holdout. The question is whether it extends more than a week or two while failing to grab the attention of the team's brass. Jul 19 - 3:23 PM

NFL Network's Steve Wyche reports Maurice Jones-Drew is prepared to hold out through training camp -- if not longer -- if the Jaguars refuse to restructure his contract.

We suspect Wyche's source is Jones-Drew's agent, escalating the rhetoric following owner Shad Khan's Wednesday statements that the team has no intention of caving to the star tailback's demands. MJD is eligible to be fined $30,000 per day through camp, though he's willing to make that "sacrifice" to land a new deal. Although the team holds all of the leverage here, they could end up guaranteeing a portion of Jones-Drew's salary by way of compromise. If not, the holdout could reach the level of Chris Johnson's last year. Fantasy leaguers should be sure to "handcuff" with Rashad Jennings if intent on drafting Jones-Drew.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Maurice Jones-Drew is now "open to being traded" in light of owner Shad Khan's recent suggestion that the "train is leaving the station."

"Run, get on it," Khan added as advice for Jones-Drew. If the star tailback was thinking about returning soon, as teammates reportedly believed, Khan's comments had the opposite effect. Jones-Drew is once again entrenched. Per Schefter, the holdout "shows no signs of letting up and is fully expected to extend into the regular season." If the front office accepts Jones-Drew's trade invitation, former Jags coordinator Dirk Koetter's team in Atlanta is one to watch. GM Thomas Dimitroff isn't afraid to make bold moves, and a declining Michael Turner is a poor fit for Koetter's fast-paced offense.

Kinda looks like MJD just wants out and is looking for an easy excuse to do so.
