If there's enough interest, I don't see why not. I know the last time we tried to do this is bombed miserably.

Hasn't been done in a long time. Just make it so there are no more than say 10ish awards. Best GFX, Most Improved, Best Poster, Funniest Poster, Worst Poster, Biggest Asshole, Best Mod, Best Fantasy Player, Post of the Year, Thread of the Year, etc. One year there were like 50 awards.

Post of the month would work. Have a topic just for people to post quoted posts that they believe are worthy of the award for that month or week. Then you simply have us +1 the quote and the one with the most + wins the award.

What about a NBA NFL , MLB, NHL award, to the posters who know one of the sports well enough or more then anybody. Can go by debates there, knowledge of the game, players, IQ etc.

EDIT: If we roll with this format, I think it would be cool to split the voting into two stages: nominations, then public/private voting. This way we can nominate 3-5 members for each category, then have a big poll thread for people to vote on the winners (which could also be done through PM).

And yes, I'm down for running this if there are no other volunteers.

I would say everyone can nominate up to 3 members for each award, the top 3 vote-getters are officially nominated and it gets put to a vote.

I like all of those, and if we're going to add a hockey and baseball award, how about best NBA poster? Maybe the Stephen A. Smith award? I don't know.

And I agree with not going over the top with "bad" awards but how about the Skip Bayless Award?

Just don't overdue the amount of awards. Thats what killed it last time. There were just too many awards to nominate and select. It became too much of a hassle IMO.
