As had been expected for some time now, the NBA will begin placing advertisements on jerseys next season. The League’s Board of Governors also elected to expand the use of in-game replay. Per ESPN: “Next season, we’ll see an expansion of instant replay. All flagrant foul calls will go for immediate review to determine whether they constitute a ‘Flagrant 1,’ the more egregious ‘Flagrant 2,’ or a garden-variety foul. During the last two minutes of regulation and the entirety of overtime, officials will consult video to confirm the accuracy of a goaltending call and to determine whether a defender was inside or outside the restricted area on a block/charge call. Video replay has been part of the NBA since 2002, and the league has been making more situations eligible for replay at a steady pace over the past few years. Most fans probably won’t detect a radical change to the pace and contour of an NBA game with these additional three events added to the mix, but another likely change might jolt them: Come fall, it’s highly likely you’ll see a small 2-inch-by-2-inch sponsorship patch stitched on the shoulder of your favorite player’s game jersey. ‘I think it’s likely that we’ll do something, implement something, some sort of plan for the fall,’ NBA deputy commissioner Adam Silver said. ‘I think it’s fair to say that our teams were excited about the opportunity and think there is potentially a big opportunity in the marketplace to put a two-by-two patch on the shoulder of our jerseys.’ How big an opportunity? In 2010, the 20 teams in the English Premier League generated $178 million in revenue from shirt sponsorships. Granted, a 2-by-2 insignia probably won’t fetch anywhere near what an EPL team gets for draping a sponsor’s logo seam-to-seam across the chest of its players, at least not initially. But even a fraction of $178 million has to be enticing to NBA owners. ‘Our view is we think, on an aggregate basis, league-wide, our 30 teams could generate in total $100 million by selling that patch on jerseys, per season,’ Silver said.”

$100M in projected revenue from placing these ads. It's a business gentleman. Deal with it.

I'm used to watching these ads in the European basketball and they are enormous,so these little 2inch by 2inch ads won't bother me at all..

Won't happen. Nike owns the rights to promote the NBA as "The shoe of the NBA", so naturally they'll be protected under the new deal. Just like KIA being the "Official car of the NBA", we wont see Ford, Chevy, Toyota, etc. popping up on jerseys. Until the deals that are currently in place expire, then I'm sure the NBA will say that all companies can battle over a spot on a jersey simply because they want to generate even more income through competition.

Regardless, this idea is retarded. I'm just completely and entirely against this.

Favre4Ever+  : (20 May 2013 - 11:46 PM) I also think he secretly hates being black
dutchff7  : (20 May 2013 - 11:47 PM) Nerves
Favre4Ever+  : (20 May 2013 - 11:47 PM) In his prime, it was hella fun to watch him play. But I am not a fan of him as a person, and I hate watching him try to be an analyst. He sucks
dutchff7  : (20 May 2013 - 11:47 PM) Mcnabb is so insecure
dutchff7  : (20 May 2013 - 11:47 PM) He wants to be loved so bad and it shows and it's so fucking annoying. i appreciate the good times we did have with him as our QB but I never really liked Mcnabb
Bucman  : (20 May 2013 - 11:48 PM) McNabb was Ronde Barber's bitch
Bucman  : (20 May 2013 - 11:48 PM) Barber had so many good plays that came against McNabb
dutchff7  : (20 May 2013 - 11:48 PM) Like/dislike feeling when it came to him. He didn't reach me like other popular eagles players like a Dawkins or Westbrook despite his *success.
RANGA+  : (20 May 2013 - 11:50 PM) mcnabb was always a bit strange
monstersofth...  : (20 May 2013 - 11:50 PM) So he puked because he was nervous about playing in the biggest game of his life.
dutchff7  : (20 May 2013 - 11:50 PM) I remember when McNabb was bashing RG3 saying he would never be successful in Shanahans scheme. His bitter ass was only saying that because he stunk it up in washington. Then during the season he was slobbing all over RG3. Makes me sick
monstersofth...  : (20 May 2013 - 11:50 PM) big fucking deal lol.
dutchff7  : (20 May 2013 - 11:51 PM) There's no "so" about puking in the biggest game of your life. Get your shit together and step up. No time for that soft shit. real leaders breathe fire and step up to the plate. not throw up their guts
dutchff7  : (20 May 2013 - 11:52 PM) No resolve whatsoever
monstersofth...  : (20 May 2013 - 11:52 PM) people handle things differently.
dutchff7  : (20 May 2013 - 11:52 PM) Yall done got me started. That shit pisses me off so bad when I really start to think / talk about it
dutchff7  : (20 May 2013 - 11:52 PM) yeah, he handled it like a pussy
monstersofth...  : (20 May 2013 - 11:52 PM) If he would of won this would be a non issue.
RANGA+  : (20 May 2013 - 11:53 PM)
Bucman  : (20 May 2013 - 11:53 PM) If he puked and won the SB it would be a nonissue lol
RANGA+  : (20 May 2013 - 11:53 PM) but he didnt win
RANGA+  : (20 May 2013 - 11:53 PM) thats the thing
RANGA+  : (20 May 2013 - 11:53 PM) so thats a retarded argument
Bucman  : (20 May 2013 - 11:53 PM) get outta my mind :shifty:
dutchff7  : (20 May 2013 - 11:53 PM) Ofcourse it would be a non issue. Duh lol
monstersofth...  : (20 May 2013 - 11:55 PM) but yet you guys lost and everyone is on his ass because he puked? lmao.
dutchff7  : (21 May 2013 - 12:00 AM) Yep. You can't show signs of weakness in the biggest game of your life and then lose on top of that.
monstersofth...  : (21 May 2013 - 12:00 AM) He showed weakness by throwing 2 ints at that point and getting sacked 4 times.
monstersofth...  : (21 May 2013 - 12:05 AM) I feel bad for Mcnabb I really do. for years he had absolute trash as his wide outs and kept the eagles competitve.
dutchff7  : (21 May 2013 - 12:10 AM) Yeah and when he finally got the elite receiver we all wished for, we went to the superbowl and he was throwing up.
monstersofth...  : (21 May 2013 - 12:12 AM) spoiled fans are spoiled. lol
dutchff7  : (21 May 2013 - 12:12 AM) I'm not spoiled. I wish I was. We would have a lombardi by now
monstersofth...  : (21 May 2013 - 12:13 AM) and its a shame that most people will remember him that way.
dutchff7  : (21 May 2013 - 12:15 AM) I spoke on it in the Mcnabb HoF thread. I gave my appreciation and gratitude for the *success we did have, but I didn't shy away from the bad and missed opportunities.
JetsFan4Life  : (21 May 2013 - 12:19 AM) Came home and we're using the Central Air again :megusta:

Bucman  : (21 May 2013 - 03:01 AM) We always here these big numbers then they slowly go down.
Favre4Ever+  : (21 May 2013 - 03:02 AM) I dunno, this seems like one that could go up

Arz  : (21 May 2013 - 05:27 AM) read that it was 30 miles wide, even for a tornado that is fucking ridiculously big, wouldnt be surprised if the numbers went up at all.
Bucman  : (21 May 2013 - 05:54 AM) 30 miles? Are you sure it was that big. I heard maybe 2 miles wide. 30 miles would be massive
