Tim Tebow's 'Sexy Jesus' Pose For GQ Gets Controversial
The Huffington Post | By Cavan Sieczkowski Posted: 08/15/2012 10:42 am Updated: 08/15/2012 3:23 pm

A photo of the New York Jets' newly-minted backup quarterback Tim Tebow inside GQ's NFL kickoff issue has become quite the subject of controversy after critics blasted the pictorial for portraying Tebow as a "Sexy Jesus."

In the black-and-white "Sexy Jesus" photo, Tebow poses shirtless with his arms outstretched and legs crossed. His side-turned face is tilted slightly downward, painted with a forlorn expression.

Scroll down to see Tim Tebow's GQ photos.

The photo, which appeared alongside an article entitled "Have You Accepted Tim Tebow as Your QB and Sunday Savior?," was released on Tuesday, which happened to be Tebow's 25th birthday.

Craig Carton, host of the Boomer & Carton radio show on Sports Radio 66 WFAN, crucified Tebow, the famously religious NFL star whose on-field genuflections proved to be the perfect ingredient for a Tebowmania, for his Sexy Jesus pose during the morning show, calling him "fraudulent," "disgusting" and "egotistical."

Anyone still want to defend him as a humble, God-fearing Christian and not a bitchass, limelight whore? No humble Christian would tell GQ, "yeah, I would love to pose like Jesus with my shirt off, despite the fact that there are already Jesus-cults that follow me and chant my name."

Seems very blasphemous to me. But I see through his facade, and have for a while. He just likes attention, and all he is worried about is building his brand.

Just fyi, Zack, they pulled that from college photos. He did not want to be on the cover of GQ, and refused to give them an interview.

You know how I feel about him, but this thing is way overblown.

So he's been a twat since the beginning. :yep:

I've said it a thousand times. If you're a real Christian, you don't do shit like run past a group of players that are kneeling at centerfield in a prayer circle to go down to the endzone, find a camera, and kneel in front of it.

Matthew 6:5-15
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

You can find hypocrisy in everyone, Christians are no different. When you do more charity work than Tebow and stay out of trouble from the law like he has, then feel free to gloat and bash. Him being an attention whore at this point should be undeniable, but it should also be the least of everyone's worries. Hating on him honestly just makes said hater look like a jealous, hypocritical twat themselves.

:yeahthat:

Regardless of all the positive things ppl may do, they always have haters. Tebow hasn't done anything to anyone; just enjoying his life in the lime light. People love to bash players like T.O, Chad Johnson for the negative controversy that may surround them but you have a guy like Tim Tebow who's record is squeaky clean and is conducting his nfl career in an appropriate manner and ppl still find reasons to hate that. You can't win for losing. Haters gonna hate.

That's actually Matthew 6:5-6, fyi. I do agree that Tebow is a hypocrite, but this particular instance is not as bad as one might originally think upon seeing the article.
