TGP Top 100 Players

Recommended Posts

Currently only the QB's have finished, and the HB's, WR's and TE's are in progress at the time of this post. Currently the cutoff for players is 30% of ballots, I don't know if there should be a redemption round or not, but we'll see how many players we'll have once this keep advancing.

The Current Results:

QB: (out of 15 ballots)

Aaron Rodgers 15

Tom Brady 15

Drew Brees 15

Peyton Manning 15

Ben Roethlisberger 15

Matt Ryan 14

Eli Manning 10

Matt Schaub 9

RG3 8

Tony Romo 8

Russell Wilson 6

Cam Newton 6

I'd say if we end up with less than about 120 we should probably consider a redemption round, but any more than that and I think we'll be fine

Razor this list cannot stand.

Daryl Washington absolutely has to be in the top-100 voting.

134 total tackes, 9 sacks, 1 INT, 2 FF, 4 PD for an ILB? The man had an argument to be made that he was the best ILB in the league. If we don't even have him as an option, that's just wrong.

I was thinking that the bolded names were the ones who were in.

But the bolded names are just the unanimous ones, yes?

Yeah, Oochy explained it, Washington is still in, he just didn't get in unanimously. He's made the qualifying round as had a good shot to stay in the top 100.

I just stated a fact, you explained it :p I didn't really see why Thanatos was confused, so I wasn't really able to explain, but I'm glad it's been cleared up

Well I realized I messed up my math for the receivers, all the guys with 4 votes on there don't meet the 30% cutoff (4/14 is 28.6%), so they don't actually make the list. Sorry to keep your hopes up for so long.

Anyway, corners, safeties and specialists have wrapped up. The final tallies look like this.

Cornerbacks

Darrelle Revis 10

Richard Sherman 10

Joe Haden 10

Charles Tillman 10

Champ Bailey 10

Brandon Flowers 10

Antonio Cromartie 8

Antoine Winfield 7

Tim Jennings 6

Lardarius Webb 6

Asante Samuel 5

Johnathan Joseph 5

Patrick Peterson 4

Casey Heyward 4

Brent Grimes 3

Ike Taylor 3

Safeties

Jairus Byrd 9

Eric Weddle 9

TJ Ward 8

Reshad Jones 8

Kam Chancellor 8

Thomas Decoud 8

Kenny Phillips 7

Troy Polamalu 7

George Wilson 5

Dashon Goldson 4

Earl Thomas 4

Ed Reed 3

That means we have a total of 162 qualifying players, and 39 are in unanimously.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to narrow the field at the moment, but the way I see it, if we say the 39 unanimous players gets an automatic bid into the top 100, exactly half of the remaining players would make up the top 100. (162-39 = 123. 61 is basically half of 123). I just have to figure out the best way to do a round to eliminate the extra players.

Mathematically that's rather convenient, and I think you've got the right idea in qualifying the 39 unanimous players, then cutting the remaining 123 down to 61. Doing this by one large round of head-to-head seems a little brief, so maybe first we do a round of players grouped by position, and we're forced to vote for the worst player among them? Something like that? Just as a way to trim the fat, so to speak.

yeah and head to head isn't a good idea because we could have 2 players who should be top 100 players facing each other. It'd be really inaccurate and not at all according to our top 100. My first idea would be to do something along the lines of a hurt and heal, where there would be a safe threshold (say +5) and a dead threshold (-5), but with 123 players that'd be kind of unwieldy.
