.AirMcNair. 1,232 Posted July 23, 2014 "You can count on one thing, he's going to be the quarterback here for the immediate future," Brown said, via the Bengals official website. “We've had numerous discussions and I think like most of these matters, it will find an ending soon enough. But I'm not going to stand here and predict when that will be." Earlier in the offseason, coach Marvin Lewis -- who's been on record multiple times saying he wants a contract for Dalton to get done -- made reference to the notion that Dalton wanted the kind of seven-year, $126.1 million contract Jay Cutler received that averages $18.1 million per year. But Brown had another quarterback in mind. That would be Colin Kaepernick, who got a six-year, $126 million deal last month that averages $21 million per season (the caveat there, though, is that much of his $61 million guaranteed money comes in the form of annual roster bonuses that Kaepernick still will have to actually earn in order to receive them). “We tend to think our deal should be something in that range, not way beyond it,” Brown said.
SteVo+ 3,702 Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) The Bengals are going to screw their franchise the same way the Ravens did with Flacco. This is the new standard, apparently. Edited July 23, 2014 by SteVo
RazorStar 4,025 Posted July 23, 2014 Dalton needs to win them a playoff game before the Bengals even think about shelling out.
oochymp 2,393 Posted July 23, 2014 the one thing they should definitely try to emulate from Kaep's contract is the annual team options
Cherry 1,302 Posted July 23, 2014 If they give Andy a contract before AJ and Vontaze, I quit.

AL_Royalty 489 Posted July 23, 2014 Kaepernick doesn't even deserve to get paid like Kaepernick, and he doesn't fall apart at the seams every time a bright light shines on him. Get outta here with this Mike.
Cherry 1,302 Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) We have players who need to be paid. AJ, Burfict, Bernard in a few years, Zeitler, Marvin Jones, Dennard will need his share in several years. If we don't pay those key pieces to our team we will fall apart in a season or two, and then we will be the basement dwellers of the NFL once again. Dalton better not do it. Any QB should put team over self, just like in the actual game. If he wants money, sign him to a fucking advertisement. TL;DR: If Dalton takes a paycheck we can't pay players around him. If he is that big of a stubborn cunt I hope he fucking leaves and goes to a shitty team. I don't want a moneygrab player who is fucking mediocre. Dutch 874 Posted July 24, 2014 (edited) Ryan Fitzpatrick's deal is what started the QB's ridiculous inflated contracts. Now QB's contracts are dependent on how serviceable you are and not an overall evaluation. Edited July 24, 2014 by Dutch
