CampinWithaMissingPerson 2,025 Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) What are your thoughts on Allen Burns? Diamond in the rough man. Came to JAX because he already knew Fisch's system, and has just thrived with Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee, Ace Sanders, and Tandon Doss out at different periods through OTAs/Camp/Preseason whether for injury or suspension in Sanders case. He's a lock to make the roster at this point in what was a very competitive position coming in. The QBs love him. He's got good size, good speed, adjusts to the ball well in the air, good hands, has showed he can be a good route runner and he's only going to get better. The WR spot is now a big question on who's gonna make the team for the Jags with Tandon Doss and Ace Sanders back at practice today. Allen Robinson is still nursing that hamstring he's been out with basically all camp and preseason. But he's a lock obviously. Shorts, Robinson, Lee, and Hurns seem like locks at this point. Mike Brown is the reliable veteran. Tandon Doss and Ace Sanders seem in direct competition with each other given both were brought in via draft and FA for their punt returning specialty. I have no idea if the Jags will carry 6 WRs but they should. We need to cut Jordan Todman IMO. Denard has shown way more than Todman. I like Storm Johnson's long term potential more than Todman too. Storm (just like Marqise Lee) are still adjusting to the speed of the game IMO. They look slow at times out there because of their inexperience. But Storm offers so much more potential than Todman, and it'd be more valuable to have Doss or Sanders than Todman IMO. Doss can be a four core special teamer. Ace can return and has flashed at times out of the slot. Edited August 25, 2014 by CampinWithGoatSampson
KempBolt 498 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) Allen Hurns had a 62/1163/6 season with Stephen Morris at QB. That says a lot. Edited August 26, 2014 by KempBolt
CampinWithaMissingPerson 2,025 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) His problem was always staying healthy. He played hurt a lot which shows he's tough, but it limited his ability. Edited August 26, 2014 by CampinWithGoatSampson
CampinWithaMissingPerson 2,025 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) Mike Brewster is so bad at Center that he played himself off a team that had no Center at the beginning of the preseason. Against third stringers last night he shit himself, panicked and snapped a ground ball to Ricky Stanzi. Automatic cut at that point. Later breh... Looks like Bowanko will start at Center, and Linder at RG. Two rookies starting in the interior... maybe starting Henne for a few games is the smart move after all Let him get killed while they gel then throw the kid in there. Turry 755 Posted August 29, 2014 lolbrewster Jaguars C Mike Brewster is in danger of not making the 53-man roster. Brewster was the odds-on favorite to win the starting job heading into camp, but he was horrible in preseason action. He botched three shotgun snaps, with one coming Thursday night and resulting in a 14-yard loss. Brewster was pulled from the starting lineup two weeks ago. The Jags are still trying to sort the position out. Jacques McClendon and Luke Bowanko are the contenders. Source: Associated Press
CampinWithaMissingPerson 2,025 Posted August 30, 2014 (edited) https://twitter.com/ryanohalloran/statuses/505451758760382464 Dude went from being given every chance to win the starting gig to being cut from the team before the season even happened. Deservedly so. McClendon played guard Thursday and Bowanko started at Center so looks like Bowanko for sure starting at Center. All 8'7" of him. Joeckel, Beadles, Bowanko, Linder, Bradfield (Pasztor when he's healthy.) Two rookies at C, and RG. Could be trouble, but they're easily the best options on the team as of now. Maybe Beadles can make line calls. It's not something new for an OG to have those duties. Still, Jags OL is gonna be rough unless they gel sooner than expected. Pasztor won't play til the 3rd game or so which could hurt but luckily the Eagles, Redskins, and Colts aren't exactly lighting it up on the pass rushing front. CampinWithaMissingPerson 2,025 Posted August 30, 2014 #Cowboys also are expected to release Uche Nwaneri, the former #Jaguars guard who signed there in June. Whattup Vin?
DonovanMcnabb for H.O.F 2,241 Posted August 30, 2014 I knew the Lions were going to keep Fuller (contrary to what many fans thought) but not at the expense of Kris Durham. I never liked Durham all that much, but i'd still argue he deserved a spot over guys like Ross, and even Fuller himself. Good to see LaAdrian Waddle take the starting spot. About time.
