C.J. Spiller done for the season with broken collarbone

Recommended Posts

Per Rotoworld.com:

A source tells PFT that C.J. Spiller (collarbone) is out for the season.
Spiller will have surgery Monday to repair a broken collarbone sustained in Sunday's win over the Vikings. It's awful timing, as he was just about to get a big chance with Fred Jackson suffering a serious groin injury. Instead, Spiller's wildly frustrating contract-year season ends with 69 carries for 287 yards (4.15 YPC) and zero rushing touchdowns in seven games. Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon will move forward as the Bills' top-two backs. Oct 19 - 6:57 PM

Sucks for Spiller. He's going to get a lot of buzz this coming offseason. Good landing places for him would be the Chargers, Colts, or Panthers. Bryce Brown is finally getting his shot. Going to be interesting to see what he does with it.

Sad. But I feel like he won't get buzz because he's athletic but bad at football which most smart NFL personnel should realize by now. A lesser Reggie Bush without the toughness.

He's not bad at football. He's just been used horribly. He can be a great asset if used correctly, as 2012 showed.

Its sad though, he's probably done with the Bills now and I hope he recovers and can do well.

There's nothing "lesser" about CJ Spiller in comparison to Reggie Bush, in my opinion. I'd take Spiller and study what works when it comes to how he's used.

Bills placed RB C.J. Spiller (broken collarbone) on injured reserve/designated to return.

Spiller can resume practicing in six weeks, but won't be eligible for game action until Week 16. There's obviously a (strong?) chance the Bills are already eliminated from playoff contention by then, but they were running out of time to use their I.R./return spot. There's really no downside to stashing Spiller in the hope that he can return to a team that will be in the thick of the playoff race with two weeks to go. Spiller remains safely droppable in all re-draft leagues.

Every offseason I have to see some top ten RB lists with Spiller on them because "This is gonna be a big year from him." Then the actual games are played, and it's NOT his year. All we hear is "Oh, well, the Bills gave the ball to Jackson too much, and Spiller got hurt. NEXT year though..." He doesn't miss many games up until now, but it seems he's always got some kind of nagging, lingering thing that keeps him at less than 100.

He's kinda turning into the Jake Locker of RBs. It's a very similar tale. He's obviously got talent, but he's done where he's at now, and collarbones have a history of never going away. It's sad really, but there's a really good chance that it's never going to be "his year."

Bills reporters are saying that Spiller may play week 17. What's the point? Lol

Much more so, Fred Jackson is going to carry the load when he returns. It could perhaps be his farewell tour. I expect huge things from Jackson upon return.
