FartWaffles 1,857 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) http://www.rotoworld.com/player/cfb/133731/vernon-adams Eastern Washington has granted senior QB Vernon Adams a release to transfer. The 6-foot, 200-pounder is visiting Oregon this weekend, and the fit is almost too perfect. The Ducks need a QB to replace Marcus Mariota, and Adams is one of the FCS' best players. You might recall that he accounted for 491 yards of offense and seven touchdowns in a 59-52 loss to Washington this past season. Adams has thrown for 10,438 yards and 110 scores already in his three-season career. NFL Media analyst Charles Davis calls Adams "a master playmaker and a big-time leader," and colleague Bucky Brooks said that though "Adams lacks the ideal physical dimensions to pique the interest of NFL scouts, his production and effectiveness running (Eastern Washington's) high-powered offense will keep his name in the mix over the next few years." If he does indeed transfer, Adams shouldn't have a problem fending off sophomore Jeff Lockie for the starting gig. True Blue sad. BwareDWare94 723 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) Vernon Adams does these things in a conference that mostly does not place defense (Montana is the only current exception, and UND's defense is drastically improving, but that's it). There is absolutely no guarantee that his skillset translates to a higher level where he will actually face decent defenses on a regular basis. I hope he does well if he makes this transfer, but if he isn't great, it shouldn't be a surprise. Edited January 29, 2015 by BwareDWare94
Cherry 1,302 Posted January 30, 2015 Wouldn't doubt Vernon Adams fitting the Oregon system and succeeding. The jump from FCS to FBS is a jump, but that's why the best players make it. Same can be said from college to NFL. No doubt in my mind that he can at least play decent at Oregon.
oochymp 2,393 Posted January 30, 2015 what are the transfer rules? I thought players had to sit out for a year after transferring, is that why he needed EWU to grant him a release? does that rule not apply if the player is going to a higher level? and is FBS officially considered a higher level than FCS? both are Division I

BwareDWare94 723 Posted January 30, 2015 (edited) It's not about what he is or isn't capable of. It's about the Big Sky Conference having a boatload of shitty defenses and because of that, his stats may lead to people expecting him to be great when he very easily could be mediocre at best. FartWaffles 1,857 Posted February 10, 2015 It's official now. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/cfb/133731/vernon-adams Eastern Washington senior QB Vernon Adams will transfer to Oregon for his final season of eligibility. It looks like the Ducks have their replacement for the departed Marcus Mariota. Adams is around 6'0/190 lbs and consistently played well when EWU faced off against FBS competition. He obviously has movement skills and was able to test defenses at multiple levels of the field. Because he is set to graduate, Adams will be eligible to play immediately. UCLA and Texas were also rumored to have interest. EWU opens their 2015 season against Oregon.
True Blue 16 Posted March 13, 2015 It's not about what he is or isn't capable of. It's about the Big Sky Conference having a boatload of shitty defenses and because of that, his stats may lead to people expecting him to be great when he very easily could be mediocre at best. Did you not watching him throw 7 TDs and 400+ against UW and almost win the game despite EWU starting the game down 21-0? Did you not watch him account for 500+ yards and 6 TDs in a win against OSU the year before? He will do very well at UO, and I wish him success. But fuck Whoregon and their $$$ and $hady recruiting tactics. They used his HS coach to let him know they wanted him.
FartWaffles 1,857 Posted July 10, 2015 Ruh-roh... http://www.rotoworld.com/player/cfb/133731/vernon-adams QB Vernon Adams, who was expected to transfer to Oregon for the 2015 season, did not graduate from Eastern Washington this spring. As Oregon beat writer Andrew Greif puts it, Adams "did not meet Eastern Washington's graduation standards after the spring academic quarter" and this news "throws his plan to play football for Oregon this fall in flux." Greif adds Adams walked during EWU's graduation but still needed to complete an academic course. Right now nothing is really known regarding Adams' future with Oregon, but this should scare Ducks' fans. Adams was expected to compete for the school's starting quarterback job.

Bangy 19 Posted July 11, 2015 I mentioned this in the shoutbox a few days ago, so damn idiotic. I mean there is plenty of time for him to get this course done right? If not then I am honestly happy with Lockie, he has been underrated for a while now and would like to see him get his chance to play. FartWaffles 1,857 Posted July 12, 2015 I mentioned this in the shoutbox a few days ago, so damn idiotic. I mean there is plenty of time for him to get this course done right? From what I read, it seems as though he can still transfer to Oregon in time if he finishes whatever he has remaining by the end of the summer. Time is not on his side, but it is still possible. Sarge+ 3,436 Posted July 23, 2015 Someone will end up with just the right amount of money in their hands to make this happen. None of my business tho.
Bangy 19 Posted August 19, 2015 Well it's finally official Vernon Adams is a Duck. He managed to pass the maths class that was outstanding so can play for Oregon. I'm excited about this as it should now produce a good QB competition between Lockie and Adams. Now I'll be honest I know people are high on him but apart from a few clips I've not seen a great deal about him. Are the Russ Wilson comparison justified? FartWaffles 1,857 Posted August 28, 2015 http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000517172/article/vernon-adams-named-oregons-starting-quarterback Vernon Adams emerges as Oregon's starting quarterback After just two weeks of practice, Vernon Adams has emerged as the replacement for Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota at Oregon. The transfer from Eastern Washington, who only formally joined the Ducks team a couple of weeks ago, was listed atop the Ducks opening depth chart, released Friday. Adams starred for three years at FCS program Eastern Washington before leaving for Oregon as a graduate transfer. His prolific career at EWU (over 10,000 passing yards and 110 touchdown passes in three seasons) has Ducks fans' hopes high that the dropoff at the position from Mariota will be limited. Adams beat out Mariota's long-time backup, Jeff Lockie, for the starting nod. The decision ends one of several quarterback competitions that are still brewing at top programs including Ohio State, FSU, Alabama and Georgia.
DonovanMcnabb for H.O.F 2,241 Posted August 29, 2015 I was coming in here to say that Adams is the starter. I actually care about college football now. Lol.
Bangy 19 Posted August 29, 2015 I've read a lot that Adams has looked good so far. It's actually promising to see, nothing less than playoffs.
