The move frees up $5.475 million in cap space, and was a no-brainer after Finnegan was one of the league's very worst corners last season. Per the Miami Herald's Adam Beasley, Finnegan has considered retirement. Now 31, Finnegan will have to be amenable to bargain-basement offers without guaranteed money if he wants to continue his playing career. His play has been on a steady downward slope.
