BLUE 1,026 Posted March 12, 2015 Per Rotoworld.com: A source with knowledge of the situation tells ESPN's Jeremy Fowler the Saints "appear" to have placed every member of their roster on the trade block "but Drew Brees and Brandin Cooks." Fowler reports the Saints want a "complete retool." Everyone "but Brees and Cooks" is obvious hyperbole, but there's no doubt New Orleans is undergoing a massive makeover, having dealt Ben Grubbs and Jimmy Graham already, while allegedly placing rising star Kenny Stills on the trade block. From ownership on down, the future of the Saints is in serious question after a 7-9 year. Mar 12 - 2:49 PM Source: Jeremy Fowler on Twitter

Guest Phailadelphia Posted March 13, 2015 If they want to retool the roster the first move they should have made was dealing Drew Brees while he still has some trade value instead of shipping a young, superstar TE to another team.
oochymp 2,393 Posted March 13, 2015 but how much trade value does Brees actually have at this point? I know, he's one of the best QBs in the league, but the guy's 36 years old, he can't have much more than 2-3 top level years left and how many teams are that close to contending for a Super Bowl that don't already have a QB? and the only way teams give up a lot for a player is if they think that player will get them a Super Bowl, you don't give away the house to go from bad to mediocre, so I really don't think there's much of a trade market for Brees at this point
Bucman 891 Posted March 13, 2015 Are the Saints trying to win now or what? They traded away 3 good players already. Took a horrible contract on from Miami and signed Brandon Browner.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted March 13, 2015 I don't think the Saints even know what they are doing... It seems like they are trying to rebuild a tough nasty D from their Bountygate days and focus on the run game. Which... Only points to getting rid of Brees more. Even though apparently he was part of these discussions.
Bucman 891 Posted March 13, 2015 Brees will last one more year in NO. They can save 20 million next year by cutting him. Watch for them to draft a developmental QB this year.
Vin+ 3,121 Posted March 13, 2015 Saints acquired LB Dannell Ellerbe and a 2015 third-round pick from the Dolphins in exchange for WR Kenny Stills. The third-rounder is much more valuable than Ellerbe, who is way overpaid at $9.85 million and was going to be cut by the Dolphins. The Saints are going to have to try and get him to take a pay cut. Ellerbe figures to slide in as the Saints' middle linebacker, replacing recently-released Curtis Lofton. Source: Profootballtalk on NBC Sports
Milla4Prez63 678 Posted March 19, 2015 I'm willing to bet the Browns would give up their second 1st rounder or their 2nd to get Brees. I mean they did spend a first rounder on Brandon Weeden who was about as old as Brees is now.

They'd probably give up their next three drafts for Brees.

I don't buy that though because then the Eagles would have never gotten him unless the Rams valued our second next year, a fourth and Foles more than a late first from Cleveland. That was the point, the Eagles never getting him...The Browns wanted Bradford, but the Rams wanted a QB in return. One thing I hadn't heard was that Casserly wasn't sure if they had offered the 1st to the Rams or to the Eagles, but perhaps both, considering both Fisher and Chip have stated they were offered a 1st for Bradford. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2015/03/cleveland_browns_reportedly_of.html Edited March 20, 2015 by Zack_of_Steel
