Former ND QB Golson to transfer to FSU?

Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said the school is currently "negotiating" with Notre Dame graduate transfer QB Everett Golson.

 

"Were negotiating, were talking right now," Fisher said. "Were going through things. Staying in contact with him." Fisher is talking about playing time. Golson is probably -- and understandably, given his skill level -- seeking some sort of assurance that he will be the starter wherever he goes. To make that happen, Florida State would have to bypass Sean Maguire, currently sitting atop the depth chart. Fisher has said the Seminoles won't toss Maguire aside to Golson. The guess here is that Fisher is trying to sell Golson on the idea of a fair competition for the gig. We think Golson would win that fight fairly easily.

I feel like this would be a really good get for Florida State. Golson is very Russell Wilson-esque on the field.

Buys freshman QBs a year to get acclimated and not have to start Maguire? I'm down.

Golson is a senior right? So you're going to have him for one season, a season in which it's very unlikely we even come close to the NC, with or without him.

Better than having to watch Maguire struggle because he would only start 1 year too after the real recruits are ready the year after.

Notre Dame graduate QB Everett Golson is visiting Georgia on Wednesday.

 

Head coach Mark Richt declined to comment on Georgia's interest in the quarterback. Hutson Mason just graduated and redshirt sophomore Brice Ramsey might be the starter in 2015. Golson would make the competition and interesting one. Either way, the team will continue to relying on the running game.
