oochymp 2,393 Posted February 25, 2016 Probably? How is it even probably? Schefter gonna get his ass sued. yeah, about that: Pierre-Paul sues ESPN, Schefter for leaking medical records | SI.com New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has sued ESPN and reporter Adam Schefter over a July tweet that contained Pierre-Paul’s classified medical records. The lawsuit was first reported by the New York Post, and the full document was released by Deadspin. Pierre-Paul, 27, is alleging violations of both his privacy and Florida’s medical records statute, which states that medical records can remain only between a patient and those involved in their care. The majority of the lawsuit focuses on the hospital’s shortcomings. The suit says Schefter “improperly obtained” Pierre-Paul’s medical chart, revealing the amputation of his right index finger following a July 4 fireworks accident in the Miami area, and released it out of a “selfish desire to ‘break news.’” Schefter had approximately 4 million Twitter followers at the time and is known for breaking major NFL news. as I said earlier there are built in exceptions in HIPAA for reporters, but I don't know if the same is true about Florida's medical records statute
JetsFan4Life 542 Posted February 26, 2016 I don't see how Schefter can get in trouble for this.
Thanatos 2,847 Posted February 26, 2016 You don't see how he can? If he obtained them illegally he is in oodles of trouble.
BLUE 1,026 Posted March 8, 2016 Per Rotoworld.com: Giants re-signed LE Jason Pierre-Paul to a one-year contract. It's worth "up to $10.5 million." Pierre-Paul was seeking a long-term deal, and the Cardinals reportedly made a late push to sign him, but JPP is returning to New York to bank on himself having a bounce-back year and hitting the free-agent market again next March at 29 years old. He recorded just one sack in eight games last season, but still proved to be disruptive off the edge. Retaining Pierre-Paul shouldn't preclude GM Jerry Reese from adding more pass-rush help. It's a huge need still with DE Robert Ayers also a free agent. Mar 8 - 1:46 PM Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter
