oochymp 2,393 Posted July 24, 2015 Title is self-explanatory, might be a little early to get this going, but I thought it'd be fun to get a pre-training camp prediction in, also ESPN's bloggers just got theirs in so I figured it can be TGP's turn Anyway, here's my prediction for Quarterbacks (3): Marcus Mariota, Zach Mettenberger, Charlie Whitehurst Running backs (4): Bishop Sankey, David Cobb, Dexter McCluster, Antonio Andrews Fullbacks (1): Jalston Fowler Wide receivers (6): Kendall Wright, Harry Douglas, Justin Hunter, Dorial Green-Beckham, Hakeem Nicks, Tre McBride Tight ends (3): Delanie Walker, Craig Stevens, Anthony Fasano Tackles: (4): Taylor Lewan, Byron Bell. Jeremiah Poutasi, Byron Stingily Guards (3): Chance Warmack, Andy Levitre, Jamon Meredith Centers (3): Brian Schwenke, Andy Gallik, Fernando Velasco Defensive tackles (3): Sammie Hill, Al Woods, Angelo Blackson Defensive ends (4): Jurrell Casey, DaQuan Jones, Ropati Pitoitua, Karl Klug Outside linebackers (4): Brian Orakpo, Derrick Morgan, Jonathan Massaquoi, Deiontrez Mount Inside linebackers (3): Zach Brown, Avery Williamson, Wesley Woodyard Cornerbacks (5): Jason McCourty, Perrish Cox, Blidi Wreh-Wilson, Coty Sensabaugh, Khalid Wooten Safeties (4): Michael Griffin, Da’Norris Searcy, Marqueston Huff, Daimion Stafford Specialists (3): Ryan Succop, Brett Kern, Beau Brinkley some tough calls: Mike Martin: I just can't see us keeping 8 dlinemen in a 3-4 and he was the odd man out Zaviar Gooden: was another guy I'd have liked to keep, and I think one more LB would be a good call, but ultimately I decided the talent was enough there to move the depth to other spots Cody Riggs: the last DB spot was a toss-up between him and Wooten, I went with experience but I could easily see the team going with the potential of the highly regarded UDFA, or they might try to stash Riggs on the practice squad a couple guys I could have left off: Fernando Velasco: I'm not sure why but I kinda like him, he's not great but he's one of those guys who can play a lot of different spots on the oline, so I like him for depth, I also think with a second year guy likely starting at center and a rookie as his likely top backup I think a veteran center would be helpful, that said ten olinemen is a lot and if I were taking that down to 9 he'd be the guy to go, my last spot kinda came down to him and Gooden and I decided our oline needed the depth, I could also see Jamon Meredith getting lost in the numbers game, but again decided veteran depth would be a good thing with our likely starting tackles being a rookie and a second year player Dexter McCluster: why did we sign him last year? after seeing the way we used him I'm really not sure, I also think our backfield is a little heavy with four RBs and a FB and he's the least likely to contribute on offense based on last season, he mainly makes it as a returner though I think others could fill that in (Tre McBride was a great returner in college, and I'm not biased at all) Justin Hunter: six WRs feels like a lot and this is a put up or shut up year for Hunter, I've also heard he might end up on the Commissioner's Exempt list because of his recent arrest, having said that I think all six of these WRs should be on someone's roster this fall, right now they're on ours so I'm gonna say we keep it that way

Our offensive line is a fucking disaster. Derek Wolfe just got suspended 4 games on some BS, he will push Smith out on return unless Smith puts some real pressure on Anunike. FS is a coinflip for starter right now imo, but Stewart is gettin loads of hype. Expecting a lot out of this defense in general. Pretty sure they don't want to carry two kickers, but neither Barth nor Colquitt can do kickoffs.

oochymp 2,393 Posted August 26, 2015 I think the only change I'd make to my original prediction is swapping Riggs for Wooten, Riggs has been very solid so far and it sounds like the coaches really like him so I'll be surprised if he doesn't make the team and I haven't heard anything about Wooten so he's the easy choice to replace him, I think we can still stash Wooten on the practice squad for one more year

theMileHighGuy 656 Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) After cutting Barth and signing Mathis, and a couple more preseason games, mine looks a bit different. Also actually going to put names in for the o-line Offense (25): QB: Peyton Manning, Brock Osweiler, Trevor Siemian (Goodbye Zac Dysert) RB: CJ Anderson, Ronnie Hillman, Juwan Thompson, Kapri Bibbs FB: James Casey WR: Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Cody Latimer, Jordan Norwood, Benny Fowler TE: Owen Daniels, Virgil Green, Joe Don Duncan, Dominique Jones LT: Ty Sambrailo, Chris Clark, Kyle Roberts? LG: Evan Mathis, Max Garcia C: Matt Paradis, Gino Gradkowski RG: Louis Vasquez RT: Ryan Harris, Michael Schofield Defense (25): DE: Derek Wolfe, Malik Jackson, Kenny Anunike, Vance Walker, Antonio Smith NT: Sly Williams, Darius Kilgo (Marvin Austin went to IR) ILB: Danny Trevathan, Brandon Marshall, Steven Johnson, Todd Davis, Lamin Barrow OLB: Vonny Football, Demarcus Ware, Shane Ray, Shaquil Barrett, Lerentee McCray CB: Chris Harris Jr., Aqib Talib, Bradley Roby, Kayvon Webster, Tony Carter SS: T.J. Ward, Omar Bolden FS: Darian Stewart, David Bruton Jr. Special Teams (4): K: Brandon McManus P: Britton Colquitt LS: Aaron Brewer QB: I'm not completely certain that we keep 3 QBs again this year. If we do, Trevor Seimian has outplayed Dysert considerably in both camp and his short preseason game time. RB: Ronnie Hillman has had one of the best preseasons of any running back in the NFL. He's definitely earned a spot. Still going to be livid when Montee Ball Makes the team. WR: This is kind of more who I want to keep than who I think we will keep. Bubba Caldwell will probably make the team just because Manning is more comfortable with him than the young guys. NT: There's a possibility we keep 3 DT, but the guys behind Kilgo are total scrubs, and I think it's more pertinent to keep talented players like Todd Davis and Lerentree Mccray at linebacker instead. Kilgo has had an impressive year so far to say the least, and he'll probably be taking rotational snaps at DE as well. Edits: As I was writing this the Broncos traded Chris Clark to the Texans, and announced a wave of cuts that included Joe Don Duncan. Michael Schofield will likely back up both T spots, so I'm unsure if we keep another T or a G. If it's a G, Ben Garland will get the spot. RazorStar 4,025 Posted September 4, 2015 Offense (25) QB (3): Peyton, Osweiler, Siemian HB (4): CJ Anderson, Hillman, Thompson, Ball FB (1): James Casey WR (5): Thomas, Sanders, Caldwell, Latimer, Norwood TE (3): Daniels, Green, (WAIVER PICKUP) OL (5): Sambrailo, Mathis, Paradis, Vasquez, Harris Backup OL (4): Garcia, Gradkowski, Schofield, Shelley Smith We probably have enough roster space to stash four runningbacks, so we keep Ball. I don't see us going into the season with only two tight ends, but we only have two good tight ends. Dominique Jones would be the guy if we had to keep one from our roster. Defense (25) DE (4): Wolfe, Malik, Vance Walker, Anunike, Antonio Smith NT (3): Sly, Kilgo, Fua OLB (5): Miller, Ware, Ray, Barrett, McCray ILB (4): Trevathan, Marshall, Davis, Johnson CB (5): Talib, Harris, Webster, Roby, Marsh FS (2): Darian Stewart, Bolden SS (2): Ward, Bruton, (One game pickup? Josh Bush?) Suspensions suck. Fua and whoever our third strong safety is are probably the first ones gone when Wolfe and Ward are back. I think we can hold the fort with this selection though. If we're looking at someone else extra on the defense, because Ball is just not good enough for the roster, I could see Lorenzo Doss, Jordan Taylor, or maybe even Zaire Anderson sneaking in. This unit, that I have constructed, IMO, is the best possible 53 guys remaining. Each one has earned their spot over other players, not based on name or draft status, but because of their production and skill. Here's Why It's Not Going To Happen: In order to make room for the best 53 roster possible, I took liberties with players who have disappointed and underachieved but who have the notability of being draft picks for the Packers. Ted Thompson is known for finding some gems in the draft, but one of his critical flaws is that he NEVER gives up on those guys. With the exception of Jerel Worthy in recent memory, Ted will hang onto major busts beyond the length of time any reasonable human being would. On my team, I have cut guys like.. Datone Jones, Nick Perry, Carl Bradford, Andrew Quarless, and Demetri Goodson. I would be shocked if Ted let any of those guys go, let alone all of them. And the Packers will be weaker because of it. Who Your Team Should Pick Up From The Packer Cuts: Now that we have established that I am smarter, better looking, and overall a better choice to GM the Packers than Ted Thompson... You now know that there are guys on my projected roster who will get cut that shouldn't so that some less talented former Packer draft pick can waste a spot on the 53. Here's who we will probably cut that your team should seriously consider signing.(RB) Rajion Neal / John Crockett: The idea of the Packers keeping 4 RBs is probably absurd. The RB competition has been ridiculous, to say the least. Both guys have looked competent running the football, and both have exhibited soft hands with the ability to make moves in space and really work as a receiver out of the back field. My gut tells me Rajion Neal sticks and Crockett is left out in the cold, but either scenario wouldn't surprise me. Whichever one hits the streets... Pick them up. (34 DE) Bruce Gaston: The Packers have more bust draft picks along the DLine than I can even count. We've already released one player (Lavon Hooks) who was better than some of the incumbents, so I KNOW more bullshit is coming. Khyri Thornton, Datone Jones, and Christian Ringo, all draft picks along the Dline suck some major ass. And they will all probably make the roster. I kept Thornton and Ringo on my main roster mostly because we already released Hooks, and Jones is older and has a suspension anyway. Gaston is a body that moves other bodies. The other guys I just named are bodies that get moved by other bodies. When we cut Gaston, I will be pretty pissed off. (LB) Nate Palmer: Not a super special talent, but he's versatile... And one thing the Packers haven't been able to stop so far this preseason has been RBs catching the football. Palmer has exhibited pretty excellent coverage ability (relative to other Packer LBs). He or the likes of maybe a Joe Thomas or Andy Mulumba will probably be cut to save Nick Perry's sorry ass. If any of the 3 get cut, pick them up and write me a thank you later.(S) Sean Richardson: This might just be a numbers casualty. I counted Hyde as a CB, but he's techinically a hybrid and plays both CB and S for us. So I want to guess that the Packers will probably cut Richardson (maybe Banjo, but that seems unlikely)... Put Hyde officially at S (even though he will still play both) and then keep another and different corner like Glover-Wright. If either Sean Richardson or Chris Banjo are released, sign them. At the very worst they are above average depth.
BwareDWare94 723 Posted September 4, 2015 I stand by my roster prediction. I don't think Taylor Heinicke played well enough last night against a suspect team to warrant a roster spot, so they'll try to put him on the practice squad.
