Most Overrated/Underrated Players This Season

Recommended Posts

Spit em out.

In my observations... the most overrated player so far this season is Byron Maxwell.

Saw this coming this past offseason..but now that it's come to full fruition

Most underrated player?

Kawann Short, the dude is an absolute beast that is just as big of a factor as Luke and Norman on that defense.

Overrated by who? The media? Because within the realm of TGP, I don't think Maxwell is overrated at all. Overpaid, obviously. But most of TGP had him pegged as a free agent bust (myself included) from the get-go.

Overrated--Teddy Bridgewater, for one. Maybe some of the rookies like Amari Cooper who were supposed to be transcendent talents but are having some trouble adjusting to the pro game. Hmm...Jarvis Landry? Matt Ryan?

Underrated--Jay Cutler, Chris Ivory (we never talk about him), Andy Dalton, Cam Newton (to an extent--we call him limited), Linval Joseph, Harrison Smith, Doug Martin (nice rebound year for him)

Overrated--Teddy Bridgewater, for one.

It's his second fucking year. He was hyped up, yeah, but he's still playing well for a second year QB without any elite WR options and poor pass protection.

Cooper is overrated? lol no. He is playing great for a rookie. He has more yards than the 2015 First round WR class does combined.

Overrated : Eddie Lacy. He has been terrible for a better part of the year. Really thought he would take the next step this year.

Underrated :

Homer pick but Doug Martin has been a monster with a real OC calling the plays. The OL has been a big help down the stretch too.

How is Amari Cooper overrated? He's been one of the best receivers in the league so far this year.

He has less than 10 TD passes...

And? The team has still been winning, and even in two of our losses he played pretty damn well. I don't give a flying fuck about what his stat line looks like as long as we get the wins, and we have been. We've been relying on the run game for the past few weeks and hardly asking Teddy to put the team on his back. We haven't needed him to produce TDs with the way AP was playing.

Teddy kept us in a position to compete against the Packers from what I collect. It was the defense giving up something like 21 second half points and AP giving away a pretty devastating fumble that sealed that game for us.

Underrated: Malik Jackson, just like last year, and likely next year as well. Brandon Marshall, Danny Trevathan, Darian Stewart... the average Joe could tell you that the Broncos have a good defense, but I doubt they could name some of the bigger contributors that aren't OLBs or CBs.

Overrated: CJ Anderson. He had a decent game last week, but he was supposed to be the man this year and has been outplayed since week 1. Our o-line is complete trash but I thought he'd do a little more.

Evan Mathis. He was supposed to be an awesome free agent signing, and he is arguably our worst pass protector. He gets push in the run game, but he's been mauled an awful lot since getting here.

Still waiting for Bware to explain why Amari is overrated

Overrated: Aaron Rodgers! Everyone including myself was on about how untouchable he is but he has been so risk adverse this season! Didn't do well when I really saw him against a terrible Chargers defense that just got picked apart by ALEX SMITH.

Underrated: Lawrence Timmons, he doesn't get enough praise for how good he is! A top LB IMO.

Aaron has definitely struggled this year, but it goes beyond just him. And bad Aaron Rodgers is still at a 23:3 TD:INT ratio... Like I think we were just all so incredibly spoiled by what he did for us that we didn't really think him looking just great and not godly was possibly.

By no stretch has he been bad...just not great. Right now my two big knocks on him are that he can be ultra conservative especially near the end zone and he sometimes folds against strong defenses (see Seattle last year as a prime example). His numbers are still great and the Packers are winning though, just think he has been knocked off that pedestal individually.

Underrated: Linval Joseph. This guy doesn't get talked about as much. He's having a great year at DT for the Vikings.

Underrated: Martavis Bryant. Already one of the best redzone recievers in the league, he's just so Dez-like. The physical types of catches he makes just makes me squirm. He's not really a top 10 receiver or anything yet but too many people are still shrugging him off.

Allen Hurns. Allen Robinson. Blaine Gabbert. Danny Amendola.

Seriously though...

Overrated: Darrell Revis-Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying he's a bun or anything close to it, but the days of him just shutting down half of the field are behind him. Hell, next season he might even get picked on.

Underrated: Donteri Poe-The guy just gets it done, week in and week out. From clogging up the middle, to getting pressure up the middle, to now scoring 346 lb TDs, he's a huge part of this defense that's firing on all cylinders right now.

"Amari Cooper is having trouble adjusting to the pro game" Another classic example of bware saying dumb shit just for shock value.
