Update: Percy Harvin placed on IR
04 December 2012 - 06:13 PM
Report: Harvin's ligament was completely torn
Dec 4 - 4:59 PM
Quote
ESPN 1500 Twin Cities reports Percy Harvin's Week 9 left ankle injury was a Grade 3 sprain, which means a complete ligament tear.
The injury usually comes with a 4-6 week timetable, and Harvin is now in his fifth week of recovery. The Vikings were initially optimistic that Harvin could return Nov. 25 versus the Bears, but the pain has lingered and he's struggled to get in and out of his breaks. Harvin will reportedly attempt to practice on Wednesday and could play with a pain-killing injection on Sunday versus the Bears.

Wright Highlights What's Wrong With Minnesota's Receivers
By Christopher Gates on Nov 27, 8:43a
Quote
Jarius Wright (representing The Daily Norseman) has already made a significant impact on the Minnesota Vikings, despite only being active for two games so far in the 2012 NFL season.
In the two games he's been active, Wright has caught 10 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. It's definitely enough to make one wonder why he couldn't get onto the field any sooner than he did, particularly when compared to some of the Vikings' other wide receivers.
Here's the sad comparison:
Jarius Wright (2 games) - 10 catches, 114 yards, 1 TD
Jerome Simpson (7 games) - 12 catches, 138 yards, 0 TD
Devin Aromashodu (10 games) - 11 catches, 182 yards, 0 TD
Stephen Burton (9 games) - 2 catches, 13 yards, 1 TD
Yes, in just two games, Wright has almost as many catches as our big free agent acquisition for this season, almost as many as a guy that's been on the team for the last two seasons, and five times as many as another guy that's been on the team for the last two seasons. (He also has as many TD catches as those three players combined, and none of the other three guys have found the end zone since Week 2.) Not to mention that he also already has twice as many receptions as tight end John Carlson.
Christian Ponder has taken a lot of heat for not getting the ball to the wide receivers. Well, he doesn't seem to be having any trouble getting the ball to Jarius Wright, from all appearances. Jarius Wright appears to have the ability to actually get open on occasion. The other three guys I listed? Not so much, no.
The Minnesota Vikings currently have six wide receivers on the 53-man roster. . .Percy Harvin, Michael Jenkins, Jarius Wright, Devin Aromashodu, Jerome Simpson, and Stephen Burton. As I've said before, I don't expect any of those guys not named Harvin or Wright to be on this team next season.

DeMarco Murray for Larry Fitzgerald?
08 October 2012 - 05:01 PM
A guy just offered me this trade and I am on the fence about it: DeMarco Murray for Larry Fitzgerald. It is in a standard scoring league with 2 starting WRs, 2 starting RBs and a flex.
My WRs and RBs look like this:
Steve Smith, Car
Mike Wallace, Pit
Steve Johnson, Buf
Willis McGahee, Den
Rashard Mendenhall, Pit
Mikel Leshoure, Det
DeMarco Murray, Dal
Chris Johnson, Ten
Cedric Benson*, GB (Out)

Jahvid Best likely to open the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list
15 August 2012 - 01:00 PM
Jahvid Best - RB - Lions
Aug 15 - 12:14 PM
Quote
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Jahvid Best (concussions) is likely to open the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Being placed on PUP would sideline Best for at least the first six games. The Lions will likely have to rely on Kevin Smith and one of Joique Bell or Keiland Williams early in the season, with Mikel Leshoure suspended the first two weeks. Best has yet to be cleared to return to practice, and is working his way back from multiple concussions. With no guarantee of playing football this season (or in the future), Best will be difficult to pick in fantasy drafts. Look for Smith to comfortably lead Detroit's backfield in 2012 touches.

Adrian Peterson removed from active/PUP list

Adrian Peterson removed from active/PUP list
Aug 12 - 12:34 PM
Quote
Adrian Peterson (knee) has been removed from the active/PUP list and resumed practicing in 11-on-11 team drills at Vikings camp.
It means he cannot start the regular season on reserve/PUP. Peterson is already working with the first team at Vikings practice and figures to play in a game at some point this preseason. It's clear that Peterson has not suffered a setback since his ACL surgery in December and, although he could still miss a game or two, he's on track to return in time for Week 1 against Jacksonville.
